COURT CIRCULAR

Balmoral Castle

The King this afternoon visited Southport and was received at Southport Town Hall, Lord Street, by Dr Ruth Hussey (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside) and Councillor June Barns (Mayor of Sefton).

His Majesty met members of the Police, Ambulance and Fire and Rescue Services at Southport Community Fire Station, Manchester Road.

The King also met members of the local community.

By command of The King, Ms Victoria Busby (Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Bader Mohammad Alawadi at 2 Albert Gate, London SW1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the State of Kuwait to the Court of St James’s.

The King arrived at Balmoral Castle this morning, was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire (Mr Alexander Manson) and then inspected the Royal Guard found by Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Edinburgh International Festival, this afternoon attended a performance of Hamlet at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Grindlay Street, Edinburgh.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Edinburgh International Festival, and The Duchess of Edinburgh, Patron, Hallé Concerts Society, this evening attended a concert at the Usher Hall, Lothian Road, Edinburgh, and were received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

The Duchess of Edinburgh, Patron, Association of Sail Training Organisations, having been received by the Lieutenant-Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Bailiwick of Guernsey (Lieutenant-General Richard Cripwell), today attended the Association of Sail Training Organisation’s Guernsey to Poole Small Ships Race, inspired by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s Bicentenary, at St Peter Port Harbour.
