The Duke of York this morning descended the Shard, London Bridge, London SE1, in aid of the Outward Bound Trust, of which His Royal Highness is Chairman of Trustees, and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

The Queen this evening attended a Reception for Heads of State and Government, International Paralympic Committee Members and other Paralympic stakeholders attending the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games at the Olympic Stadium, Stratford, London E20, and was received by the Chairman of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (the Lord Coe) and the President of the International Paralympic Committee (Sir Philip Craven).

Her Majesty viewed the Opening Ceremony of the Games and the Parade of Athletes, before opening the London 2012 Paralympic Games and viewing the lighting of the cauldron by the Paralympic Flame.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy also attended.
