Buckingham Palace

The King, Patron, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, this morning visited Forsinard Flows Visitor Centre to mark the Flow Country’s listing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was received at Forsinard Railway Station by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Sutherland (Major General Patrick Marriott) and the Chair of Flow Country World Heritage Site Steering Group (Mrs Frances Gunn).

His Majesty, escorted by the Chair, proceeded on foot to the Visitor Centre and met scientists and steering group members responsible for the World Heritage bid, before meeting members of the local community.

By command of The King, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr José Alberto Briz Gutierrez at 105A Westbourne Grove, London W2, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Guatemala to the Court of St James’s.

The Princess Royal, Member, International Olympic Committee, and President, British Olympic Association, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, today attended the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Her Royal Highness, President, British Olympic Association, accompanied by Admiral Laurence, this afternoon visited the Olympic Village, Pleyel, Bords de Seine, Saint-Denis.

General the Hon David Hurley was received in audience by The King at Buckingham Palace this morning upon relinquishing his appointment as Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia when His Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

Mrs Hurley was also received by The King.

His Majesty this afternoon at Clarence House received the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties Presidencies Troika, represented by Dr Sultan Al Jaber (COP28 President, United Arab Emirates), Mr Mukhtar Babayev (COP29 President-Designate) and Secretary Ana Toni (National Secretary for Climate Change, Brazil).

The King afterwards joined a Meeting at Clarence House with the representatives of the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties Presidencies Troika and Chief Executive Officers from the Private Sector.

Her Royal Highness, President, British Olympic Association, this evening attended a Reception in the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris, to welcome Team GB to the XXXIII Olympic Games and was received at the Residence of His Majesty’s Ambassador to the French Republic by Her Excellency Dame Menna Rawlings.

The Duke of Kent, President, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, this morning visited the new Dover Lifeboat Station, New Marina Curve Road, Dover, and was received by Brigadier Trevor Minter (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Kent).

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Hornby Hobbies Limited, Westwood Industrial Estate, Margate, to commemorate the Company’s 70th Anniversary at the site and was received by Mr Frank Martin (Deputy Lieutenant of Kent).

The Duke of Kent afterwards visited the One:One Collection (owned and operated by the Locomotive Storage Company Limited), Westwood Industrial Estate, Margate.
