COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The King and Queen this morning visited the Senedd — Welsh Parliament, Pierhead Street, Cardiff, to mark the Twenty Fifth Anniversary and were received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan (Mrs Morfudd Meredith), the Llywydd — Presiding Officer for the Senedd (the Rt Hon Elin Jones MS), the First Minister of Wales (the Rt Hon Vaughan Gething MS), the Secretary of State for Wales (Ms Joanna Stevens MP) and the Lord Mayor of Cardiff (Councillor Jane Henshaw).

Their Majesties were received with a Royal Salute, and a Guard of Honour was found by The Royal Welsh in front of the Senedd.

The King and Queen met Party Leaders before entering the Siambr/Chamber.

His Majesty addressed the Members of Senedd Cymru — Welsh Parliament and the Llwydd closed the Session.

Afterwards The King and Queen met members of staff and Senedd Members in the Cwrt, before proceeding to the Neuadd where His Majesty met individuals involved with the Senedd’s “Your Voice” exhibition and Her Majesty met members of the Welsh Youth Parliament.

The King this afternoon visited Sony UK Technology Centre, Pencoed Technology Park, Bridgend, to mark Fifty Years of the company in Wales and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan (Professor Peter Vaughan), the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Corporation (Mr Kimio Maki), the President of Sony Europe (Mr Masashi Takiguchi) and Councillor Huw David (Deputy Mayor of Bridgend).

His Majesty, escorted by the Managing Director of Sony Pencoed (Mr Rob Wilson), toured the building, viewing the camera display area and walking the Raspberry Pi production line.

The Queen this afternoon visited Lacock Church of England Primary School, High Street, Lacock, to celebrate their Two Hundredth Anniversary and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mrs Peter Troughton).

Kensington Palace

The Prince of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, today attended a special showcase at 100 Barrington, Barrington Road, London SW9, to celebrate the first year of the “Homewards” programme and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa).

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, today attended the Grand Council Meetings at St David’s Hotel, Havannah Street, Cardiff.

His Royal Highness, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, this evening attended the Grand Council Dinner at St David’s Hotel.

The King held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

The winners of the Defence Operational Shooting Competition were received by His Majesty today and presented with The King’s Medal.

Captain Lakkbakadur Gurung, 2nd Royal Gurkha Rifles, and Captain Vivek Jung Shar, The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment, (The King’s Gurkha Orderly Officers) were received by The King this afternoon when His Majesty invested them with the Insignia of Members of the Royal Victorian Order.

Colonel David Robinson (Colonel, Brigade of Gurkhas) was present.

The King this evening held a Reception for recipients of The King’s Award for Enterprise at Windsor Castle.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent were present.

The Queen, Patron, today held a Reception at Clarence House to mark the Thirtieth Anniversary of the National Literacy Trust.

Her Majesty, Vice Patron, Royal Commonwealth Society, this afternoon received Mr Joshua Wood and Mr Benjamin Wood (Supporters of The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition) at Clarence House.

The Prince of Wales, Honorary Air Commodore, today visited Royal Air Force Valley, Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey.

The Princess Royal, Royal Fellow, the Royal Academy of Engineering, was represented by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence this evening at the Annual Awards Dinner at the Peninsula London, 1 Grosvenor Place, London SW1, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa).

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, British Society of Soil Science, this morning received Dr Jacqueline Hannam (President) and Mr Andrew Morris (Executive Director).

Mrs Murty was also received by The King.

His Majesty received in audience the Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP today and requested him to form a new Administration. The Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP accepted The King’s offer and kissed hands upon his appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this afternoon held a Reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award.

The Duke of Edinburgh, President, Creative Youth, this evening attended a Fuse International Festival performance at the Rose Theatre, 24-26 High Street, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, and was received by the Reverend Martin Hislop (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The King and Queen, accompanied by The Prince William, Duke of Rothesay, and The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, this morning attended a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral for the Installation of Her Majesty as a Royal Lady of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, the Baroness Black of Strome and the Baroness Kennedy of the Shaws as Ladies of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, The Duke of Edinburgh as a Royal Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, and Professor Sir Godfrey Palmer as a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses were received at St Giles’ Cathedral by the Chancellor of the Thistle (the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry) and the Reverend Dr George Whyte (Interim Moderator and Locum of St Giles’).

Master Alexander Trotter of Mortonhall, younger (Page of Honour to The King), was in attendance.

The King and Queen this afternoon attended a Celebration at Edinburgh Castle to mark the Nine Hundredth Anniversary of the City of Edinburgh and were received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and Lord Lyon King of Arms (Dr Joseph Morrow).

The Governor of Edinburgh Castle (Major General Alastair Bruce of Crionaich) surrendered to The King the Keys of the Castle which His Majesty returned to him.

The King and Queen viewed dance performances, visited stalls showcasing Scottish charities and organisations and Edinburgh’s culture, education and diversity, and met members of the local community.

Mr John Swinney MSP (First Minister of the Scottish Government) was received by The King this evening.

The King was represented by Commodore Jonathan Handley RN (Gentlemen Usher) at the Funeral of Commodore Laurie Hopkins RN (Gentleman Usher to The late Queen and Extra Gentleman Usher to The King) which was held at St John the Baptist Church, Westbourne, Hampshire, this afternoon.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel, Scots Guards, this afternoon visited the Scots Guards Club, 2 Clifton Terrace, Edinburgh.

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, the Museum of London, this morning received Mr Clive Bannister (Chairman) and Miss Sharon Ament (Director).

The King this morning was received in the garden of the Palace of Holyroodhouse by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost surrendered to The King the Keys of the City, which His Majesty returned to him.

A Guard of Honour found by Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Major Neil Cargill, was mounted in the garden.

The King’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers and the High Constables of the Palace of Holyroodhouse were on duty.

Afterwards The King was received inside the Palace by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).

His Majesty held an Investiture at the Palace of Holyroodhouse today.

Mrs Alison Johnstone MSP (Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament) was received by The King this afternoon.

Mr Alan Simpson, winner of the annual shooting event of The King’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, was presented to His Majesty this afternoon and received The King’s Prize.

The Queen was present.

The King and Queen gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were present.

The King’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers and the High Constables of the Palace of Holyroodhouse were on duty.

The Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, the British Army Band Tidworth and the Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society played selections of music during the afternoon.

The Queen this afternoon held a Reception in celebration of Scottish Literature at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
