The Emperor and Empress of Japan, with the Japanese Suite in attendance, took leave of The King and Queen this morning and left Buckingham Palace.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan afterwards visited Young V&A, Cambridge Heath Road, London E2, and were received by Dr Tristram Hunt (Director, Victoria and Albert Museum) and Ms Anna Jackson (Keeper, Asian Department).

Their Majesties met schoolchildren from the Japan School and those from Cayley Primary School involved in activities, before viewing the Japan: Myths to Manga exhibition.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan subsequently met Ms Miranda Curtis (Trustee, Royal Shakespeare Company), Mr Andrew Leveson (Executive Director) and Ms Griselda Yorke (Executive Producer) and watched a performance by members of the Company.

The Emperor of Japan this afternoon visited St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and was received by the Dean (the Right Reverend Dr Christopher Cocksworth).

His Majesty laid a Wreath of Flowers on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II in The King George VI Chapel.

The Emperor of Japan afterwards visited the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, and was received by Mr Richard Deverell (Director).

His Majesty viewed a display from the Millennium Seed Bank, including seeds collected through the Green Hiroshima Project, and the Light into Life Bonsai exhibition.

The Prince of Wales, President, the Earthshot Prize, today attended the “Stories of Impact” discussion at their Innovation Camp at Sky Garden, 1 Sky Garden Walk, London EC3.

His Royal Highness, President, the Earthshot Prize, this afternoon attended the Breakthrough Energy Summit at Tobacco Docks, Tobacco Quay, Wapping Lane, London E1.

The Duke of Edinburgh today visited the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association Show, Norfolk Showground, Dereham Road, Norwich, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk (the Lady Dannatt).

The Duchess of Edinburgh, Honorary President, Linking Environment And Farming, today attended the Groundswell Regenerative Agriculture Festival at Lannock Manor Farm, Hitchin Road, Weston, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire (Mr Robert Voss).

The Emperor of Japan this morning visited the Francis Crick Institute, Midland Road, London NW1, and was received by the Chairman (the Lord Browne of Madingley) and Sir Paul Nurse (Chief Executive).

His Majesty was briefed on the work of the Institute, toured the Cell Cycle Laboratory and met Japanese researchers and members of staff.

The Emperor of Japan this afternoon visited the Royal College of Music, Prince Consort Road, London SW7, and was received by the Chairman (the Lord Black of Brentwood) and Professor Colin Lawson (Director).

His Majesty toured the Performance Laboratory, viewing performances and meeting students, before visiting the College’s Museum and viewing a further performance by students and alumni using playable instruments from the Museum’s collection.

The Emperor of Japan this evening received an Address of Welcome and was entertained at a Banquet by the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor and the City of London Corporation at Guildhall.

The Duke of Edinburgh was present.

The King this morning received the Lord Janvrin (Chairman, The Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee).

The King this afternoon received Dame Martina Milburn (Executive Chairman, His Majesty’s Coronation Food Project) and Miss Michelle Pinggera (Deputy Chairman, The King’s Trust International).

The Queen this morning visited Christ Church Church of England Primary School, 1 Robinson Street, London SW3, to mark the School’s Literary Festival and was received by the Earl Cadogan (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Majesty, also representing The King, was present at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Lord Hindlip which was held at the Grosvenor Chapel, 24 South Audley Street, London W1, this afternoon.

Later, Master Antony Hudgell (charity fundraiser) and Miss Lyla O’Donovan (charity fundraiser) were invited to Tea with The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan today commenced a State Visit to The King and Queen.

The Prince of Wales welcomed Their Majesties on behalf of The King at Claridge’s Hotel, Brook Street, London W1.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan, accompanied by His Royal Highness, drove to Horse Guards and were met by The King and Queen.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan, accompanied by The King and Queen, drove in a Carriage Procession to Buckingham Palace with a Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry.

Gun Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, and at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company.

Guards of Honour were provided at Horse Guards by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards and at Buckingham Palace by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.

His Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The King’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and a Detachment of Household Cavalry were on duty.

The King presented The Emperor of Japan with the Insignia of a Stranger Knight of the Most Honourable Order of the Garter.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan this afternoon visited Westminster Abbey where His Majesty laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

The King and Queen gave a State Banquet this evening in honour of The Emperor and Empress of Japan at which The Prince of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were present.
