The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Warwickshire Justice Centre, Newbold Terrace, Leamington Spa, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire (Mr Martin Dunne), the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales (the Lord Judge) and the Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa (Councillor Robert Cunliffe).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness toured the Justice Centre, escorted respectively by the Senior Responsible Officer for the Justice Centre Programme (Mr John Burbeck) and Mr Richard Lyttle (Programme Director for the Justice Centre Programme), met police officers, the custody team, probation officers and members of staff and viewed a police cell and a Magistrates Court and Crown Court.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, opened Warwickshire Justice Centre and subsequently met judges and barristers.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Waterside, Stratford-upon-Avon, and were received by the Chair of the Board of Governors, Royal Shakespeare Company (Sir Christopher Bland), Sir Geoffrey Cass (Deputy President) and the Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon (Councillor Mrs. Shelagh Sandle.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained to Luncheon by the Chair of the Board of Govenors.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards toured the Theatre and met members of staff and actors, before viewing a performance of the Balcony Scene from Romeo and Juliet in the Auditorium.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, subsequently unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the transformation of the Theatre.

By command of Her Majesty, Mr Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) received His Excellency Mr Pio Bosco Tikoisuva at St James’s Palace this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as High Commissioner for the Republic of the Fiji Islands in London.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Colonelin-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Hussars (The Queen’s Own and Royal Irish), was represented by General Sir Brian Kenny (formerly Colonel of The Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Lieutenant General Sir Robin Carnegie (former Colonel of The Queen’s Own Hussars) which was held at the Church of St John the Baptist, Tisbury, Wiltshire, this afternoon.
