COURT CIRCULAR

Balmoral Castle

The King this morning visited Broke Not Broken at the Muirs, Kinross, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross (Mr Stephen Leckie), the Founder and Trustee of Broke Not Broken (Ms Clare Slight) and Miss Annie McCormack (Chairman).

His Majesty, escorted by the Chairman, viewed the food bank store, the Charity’s vegetable garden and met volunteers and members of staff, before visiting an art exhibition at St Paul’s Episcopal Church Hall.

The King afterwards visited Kinross Day Centre, 64 High Street, Kinross, to mark its Fortieth Anniversary and was received by the Chairman of Trustees (the Reverend Alan Reid) and Mrs Agnes Cook (Manager).

His Majesty met volunteers and members of the local community who use the Centre, and beneficiaries and staff of Rachel House, Children’s Hospices across Scotland.

The King this afternoon attended a Reception at Dumfries House, Cumnock, Ayrshire, to mark the Fifteenth Anniversary of the opening of Dumfries House and Estate to the public.

The King held a Council at Dumfries House at 5.30 p.m.

There were present: the Rt Hon Penelope Mordaunt MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP (Chancellor of the Exchequer) and the Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP.

The Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP took the Oath of Office and kissed hands upon appointment as Secretary of State for Defence.

The Rt Hon Claire Coutinho MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Sir Clive Alderton (Principal Private Secretary to Their Majesties) was in attendance.

The Rt Hon Penelope Mordaunt MP had an audience of His Majesty before the Council. The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP (Chancellor of the Exchequer) later had an audience of The King.

The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Trelya, the Lescudjack Centre, Penmere Close, Penzance, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall (Colonel Edward Bolitho).

His Royal Highness, Patron, afterwards visited Hall for Cornwall, Back Quay, Truro, Cornwall.

The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon visited Healeys Cyder Factory, Penhallow, Truro.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Restorative Justice Council, this morning opened the Inaugural Northern Ireland Conference at Stormont Hotel, 587 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, and was received by Ms Cheryl Lamont (Deputy Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast).

Her Royal Highness, Chancellor, University of the Highlands and Islands, this afternoon attended the North, West and Hebrides Annual Graduation Ceremony and Celebration of Success and Achievement at St Peter’s and St Andrew’s Church, Princes Street, Thurso, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness (the Viscount Thurso).

The Duke of Gloucester, Vice Patron, National Churches Trust, this morning received Sir Philip Rutnam (Chairman) and Mrs Claire Walker (Chief Executive). His Royal Highness, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, this afternoon attended a Reception at St John’s Gate, 26 St John’s Lane, London EC1, to mark the Tenth Anniversary of the Organ Donor Award.

The Duchess of Gloucester this morning visited the Civil Service Club, 13-15 Great Scotland Yard, London SW1, to mark the Seventieth Anniversary, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa).

The King this morning visited Scalan Seminary and Mills, Ballindalloch, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire (Mr Andrew Simpson), the Acting Co-Secretary of Scalan Association (Mrs Patricia Nisbet) and Mr David Toovey (Treasurer).

His Majesty viewed the North and South Mills and received a briefing on the history of the Mills and an overview of the restoration project and the wider estate context by Mr Mark Johnston (Head Ranger, Glenlivet Estate), Mr Ian Innes (Builder, Project Restoration Team) and Mr Gordon McGillivray (local historian), before meeting volunteers and representatives of organisations involved with the conservation work and subsequently, having been received by the Acting Chairman of Scalan Association (Father Colin Stewart), touring the Seminary.

The King later visited Tomintoul and Glenlivet Discovery Centre and Museum, 43 The Square, Tomintoul, Ballindalloch, and was received by the Chairman of Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust (Mrs Elizabeth Smith).

His Majesty, escorted by the Chairman, toured the Centre and Museum and met members of staff, before viewing the Tomintoul Coat.

Afterwards, The King proceeded on foot to Tomintoul Village Store, meeting local shopkeepers and members of the community.

His Majesty, having been received by Brigadier Hugh Monro (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire), subsequently visited the pupils of Tomintoul Primary School, followed by a visit to a local affordable housing project at Auld School Close, Tomintoul.

The King this evening attended Beating Retreat by Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland at Balmoral Castle and subsequently attended a Reception given by the Guard Commander (Major Robert Weir).
