Buckingham Palace

The President of the Republic of Chile and Mrs Piñera visited The Queen this evening.

Her Majesty afterwards received Sir Peter Ricketts, National Security Advisor.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Royal College of General Practitioners, this evening held a Reception at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by the Lady Angela Oswald (formerly a Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Major Raymond Seymour (formerly Assistant Private Secretary and Extra Equerry to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) which was held in Holy Trinity Church, Bembridge, Isle of Wight, this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales was represented by Mr Ashe Windham.

The Duke of York was represented by Mr Robin Ord-Smith.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, today carried out the following engagements in Hong Kong, China.

His Royal Highness this morning attended a Briefing from Mass Transit Railway Corporation on United Kingdom Project Involvement at the International Commerce Centre.

The Duke of York afterwards attended a Briefing from the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority at the International Commerce Centre.

His Royal Highness later visited Hong Kong’s Ex-Servicemen’s Association Clubhouse, Cheung Sha Wan.

The Duke of York subsequently called upon the Financial Secretary at the Central Government Offices.

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Luncheon given by the British Chamber of Commerce.

The Duke of York afterwards called upon the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Cheung Kong at the Cheung Kong Centre.

His Royal Highness later called upon the President of the Executive Council and the Chief Executive of the Government of Hong Kong at Government House.

The Duke of York this evening attended a Reception given by HSBC at their offices.

His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Dinner given by Jardine Matheson at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The Earl of Wessex this afternoon arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from India.

Mrs Rosemary Hamer was in attendance.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Patron, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, this afternoon visited the new Student Support Scientific Project, opened the new Dog Ward at the Small Animal Hospital and subsequently visited the new Oncology Centre at Easter Bush Veterinary Centre, Bush Farm, Roslin, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Midlothian (Mr Patrick Prenter).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened Spire Shawfair Park Hospital, 10 Easter Shawfair, Shawfair Park, and was received by Mr David Bowes-Lyon (Deputy Lieutenant of Midlothian).

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this morning received the Portuguese Ambassador (His Excellency Mr António Santana Carlos).
