Buckingham Palace

The Queen, Patron, and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning gave a Reception for members of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association at Buckingham Palace.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex and The Duke of Kent were present.

The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m..

There were present: the Rt. Hon. Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Ian Duncan Smith MP (Secretary of State for Work and Pensions), the Rt. Hon. Miss Judith Simpson was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Outward Bound International, this morning received Mr. Jamie Anderson (Chairman).

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Shakespeare Globe Trust, this afternoon officially opened the Sackler Studios, Park Street, London SE1, and was received by Sir Michael Craig-Cooper (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Duke of Edinburgh, Freeman and Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers, this evening attended a Livery Dinner at Fishmongers’ Hall, London Bridge, London EC4.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, President, Business in the Community, this morning held a Meeting at Clarence House.

His Royal Highness, President, Business in the Community, afterwards received Mr. John Varley (National Ambassador).

The Prince of Wales this afternoon received Mr John Hayes MP.

His Royal Highness received the Lord Young of Graffham.

The Prince of Wales, President, WaterAid, this evening held a Dinner at St James’s Palace for European business leaders and delivered a key note speech.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, Wicked Young Writers’ Award, this morning received Mr. Michael Morpurgo (Founder).

Her Royal Highness this evening attended a Commemorative Service “Truth at All Costs” in St. Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, London EC4. and afterwards attended a Reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, New Bridge Street, London EC4.

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, today carried out the following engagements.

His Royal Highness this morning received Mr. Robert Dudley (incoming Chief Executive, BP plc) and Mr. Anthony Hayward (outgoing Chief Executive, BP plc).

The Duke of York this afternoon visited Star Energy, Grand Buildings, 1-3 Strand, London WC2.

His Royal Highness afterwards called upon the Lord Sassoon (Commercial Secretary to the Treasury), HM Treasury, 1 Horse Guards Road, London SW1, and subsequently visited Infrastructure UK at HM Treasury.

The Duke of York later received the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan (His Excellency Mr. Kairat Abusseitov).

His Royal Highness, Patron, National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, this afternoon received Mr. Sidney Higgins upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive Director and Mr. James Mackenzie-Blackman upon assuming the appointment.
