COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

His Excellency Mr. Kim Traavik was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from Norway to the Court of St James’s.

Mrs Astrid Brodtkorp was also received by Her Majesty.

Her Excellency Mrs Aino Lepik von Wirén was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of her predecessor and her own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from Estonia to the Court of St James’s.

Mr Jorma von Wirén was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr Simon Fraser (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

The Queen received the Bishop of Chelmsford (the Right Reverend Stephen Cottrell) who did homage upon his appointment.

The Rt Hon Kenneth Clarke MP (Lord Chancellor) administered the Oath.

The Bishop of Guildford (Clerk of the Closet) was in attendance.

Mr Justice Spencer was received by The Queen upon his appointment as a Justice of the High Court when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Bachelor.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a Reception at Buckingham Palace this evening for winners of the 2010 Civil Service Awards.

The Duke of Edinburgh this morning planted a Cross of Remembrance in the Royal British Legion Field of Remembrance at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, and subsequently attended a Service at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior in the Abbey, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Grand President, Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League, this afternoon chaired a Council Meeting at Canada House, Trafalgar Square, London SW1.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Town Lane, Singleton, to commemorate the Fortieth Anniversary, and was received by Mr Gordon Tregear (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex).

The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal, this afternoon visited the Mary Howard sales at Hullavington Airfield, Chippenham, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mr John Bush).

The Prince of Wales, Royal Governor, Sutton’s Hospital in Charterhouse, was represented by Colonel Robert ffrench Blake (Extra Equerry) at the Memorial Service for Mr Felix Kok (Brother) which was held at Charterhouse Square, London EC1, this afternoon.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex this morning opened Q3 Academy, Wilderness Lane, Great Barr, Sandwell, laid a wreath during the Armistice Day Service in the Memorial Garden and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands (Mr Paul Sabapathy).

His Royal Highness, Patron, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, this afternoon attended a Lunch in celebration of their Ninetieth Anniversary, at the International Convention Centre, Broad Street, Birmingham, and afterwards attended the Ninetieth Birthday Concert at the Symphony Hall.

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation, this afternoon re-dedicated the Memorial at the Chiswick War Memorial Homes, Burlington Lane, Chiswick, London W4, and was received by Mr Paul Kennerley (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Tomorrow’s People, this evening attended the Awards for Achievement at Clifford Chance, 10 Upper Bank Street, London E14, and was received by Sir Michael Craig-Cooper (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, President, World Horse Welfare, this morning attended the Annual Conference at the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7.

Her Royal Highness, President, Victim Support, this afternoon presented the National Volunteer Awards at the British Museum, Great Russell Street, London WC1.

The Princess Royal this evening opened the Lord Ashcroft Gallery and the Extraordinary Heroes Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London SE1, and was received by Dr Paul Knapman (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester this morning attended the Service of Remembrance and afterwards took the salute at the Armistice Day Parade at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire (Sir James Hawley).

His Royal Highness, President, British Expertise, this evening attended a Dinner at the Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London SW1.

The Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon departed Gatwick Airport, London, for Bermuda and was received on arrival this evening at L. F. Wade International Airport by the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Bermuda (His Excellency Sir Richard Gozney).

Miss Lucinda Hanbury is in attendance.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this morning unveiled the restored World War One Memorial at All Saints Church, Fulwell Road, Sunderland, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear (Mr Nigel Sherlock).

His Royal Highness afterwards visited the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Burdon Road, Sunderland.

The Duke of Kent this afternoon visited Thornhill Business and Enterprise School, Thornholme Road, Sunderland.

His Royal Highness, President, this evening attended a Concert given by the Royal Choral Society in Southwark Cathedral, London SE1.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Honorary Patron, American Associates of the Royal Academy Trust, this evening attended a Gala Dinner at the St Regis Hotel, 2 East 55th Street, New York, United States of America.
