COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this morning launched the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay from the Forecourt at Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty held a Council at 5.30 p.m..

There were present: the Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Daniel Alexander MP (Chief Secretary to the Treasury), the Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP (Secretary of State for Work and Pensions) and the Rt Hon Theresa May MP (Secretary of State for the Home Department).

The Lord Brodie, the Lady Dorrian, the Rt Hon Sir Christopher Floyd and the Rt Hon Sir Adrian Fulford were sworn in as members of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Rt Hon Alistair Carmichael MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Scotland.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of The Queen before the Council.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this afternoon opened the new Fundraising Office on Belgrave Road, London SW1.

The Duke of York this morning opened Box London, 64 North Row, London W1.

His Royal Highness this afternoon received the Ambassador from the Republic of Turkey (His Excellency Mr Ünal Çeviköz).

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, this morning visited Nombulelo High School, Neame Street, Grahamstown, South Africa.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, accompanied by The Countess of Wessex, afterwards attended a Reception for young people who have achieved the Gold standard in the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment, St. Andrew’s College, Grahamstown.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, accompanied by Her Royal Highness, this afternoon attended a Lunch for the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment at the Wyvern Club, Kingswood College, Burton Street, Grahamstown.

The Earl of Wessex, Chairman, International Special Projects, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, and The Countess of Wessex afterwards visited Tiger Titans Cricket Club, Bathurst.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, and Her Royal Highness this evening attended a Dinner for the World Fellowship at River Lodge, Kwandwe Game Reserve.

The Countess of Wessex, Global Ambassador, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, this morning visited Victoria Girls High School, Beaufort Street, Grahamstown.

The Princess Royal, Visitor, this morning visited St. Mary’s Cathedral Workshop, Palmerston Place, Edinburgh, was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

Her Royal Highness, Chancellor, the University of Edinburgh, later visited Edinburgh Cancer Research UK Centre, Western General Hospital, Crewe Road South, Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal, Court Assistant, the Fishmongers’ Company, this evening attended the Court Autumn Dinner at Fishmongers’ Hall, London Bridge, London EC4.

Kensington Palace

The Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon presented The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to the Welcome, Knutsford, Cheshire, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire (Mr David Briggs).

Her Royal Highness afterwards visited East Cheshire Hospice, Millbank Drive, Macclesfield, to commemorate its Twenty Fifth Anniversary.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, Asthma UK, this evening visited the Gift Fair at the Hurlingham Club, Ranelagh Gardens, London SW6.
