Palace of Holyroodhouse
The Queen arrived at Edinburgh Airport this afternoon.
The Queen drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and was received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Francis Ross, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.
A Guard of Honour found by Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Major Jonathan Thompson, was mounted in the Forecourt.
Afterwards Her Majesty was received inside the Palace by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).
The Queen was represented by the Lord Janvrin (Permanent Lord in Waiting to Her Majesty) at the Funeral of Brigadier Sir Miles Hunt-Davis (Extra Equerry to The Duke of Edinburgh and formerly Private Secretary and Treasurer to His Royal Highness) which was held in the Minster Church of St Denys, Warminster, Wiltshire, this afternoon.
The Duke of Edinburgh was represented by Lieutenant General Peter Pearson.
The Prince of Wales was represented by Sir Stephen Lamport.
The Duke of York was represented by Vice Admiral Sir Tom Blackburn.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex were represented by Brigadier John Smedley.
The Princess Royal was represented by Captain Nicholas Wright RN.
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were represented by Lieutenant Colonel Alastair Todd.
The Duke of Kent was represented by Mr Andrew Palmer.
Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, was represented by Major General Sir Simon Cooper.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the Second Severn Crossing and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gwent (Brigadier Robert Aitken).
Their Royal Highnesses subsequently attended a Reception at the Celtic Manor Resort, Coldra Woods, the Usk Valley, Newport.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon attended a Reception for Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations.
The Prince of Wales afterwards visited the National Museum Cardiff, Cathays Park, Cardiff, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan (Mrs Morfudd Meredith).
The Duke of York, Vice Admiral, this morning unveiled a statue of Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown at Edinburgh Airport and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Francis Ross, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).
His Royal Highness, Founder, Pitch@Palace, later opened the Edinburgh Business School Incubator at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
