Windsor Castle

The Queen held a Council via video link at 2.30pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Jacob Rees-Mogg MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Robert Buckland MP (Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice), the Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (Leader of the House of Lords and Lord Privy Seal), the Rt Hon Alister Jack MP (Secretary of State for Scotland) and the Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP.

The Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP took the Oath of Office as Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of Her Majesty via telephone this evening.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Joint Patrons, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this afternoon spoke via video link to emergency responders and representatives from Hospice UK’s Just “B” counselling and bereavement support line.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting.

St James’s Palace

The Princess Royal this afternoon held a Meeting via video link with Captain Peter Laughton RN upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer of HMS ALBION and Captain Simon Kelly RN upon assuming the appointment.
