Buckingham Palace
The King and Queen, accompanied by The Prince and Princess of Wales with Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and The Duke of Kent, this afternoon attended a Military Parade from the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace to commemorate the Eightieth Anniversary of VE-Day and VJ-Day and were received by the Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury), Admiral Sir Antony Radakin (Chief of the Defence Staff) and Vice Admiral Paul Bennett (National President, the Royal British Legion).
The King and Queen, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force, led by Air Commodore Christopher Layden, to mark the Eightieth Anniversary of VE-Day and VJ-Day.
His Majesty, Patron, the Royal British Legion, and Her Majesty afterwards held a Reception at Buckingham Palace for veterans of the Second World War, at which other Members of the Royal Family were present.
The Lord Ponsonby of Shulbrede (Lord in Waiting) was present at Royal Air Force Northolt this evening upon the Arrival of The President of the Republic of Ecuador and welcomed His Excellency on behalf of The King.
Kensington Palace
The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Royal Institute of British Architects, and The Duchess of Gloucester this morning visited Danish Architecture Center, Bryghuspladsen, Copenhagen, Denmark, and were received by His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark (Her Excellency Ms Joëlle Jenny).
The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon visited the Museum of Danish Resistance in Churchill Park, Esplanaden, Copenhagen.
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester later attended a Reception given by His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark at the British Embassy, Kastelsvej, Copenhagen.
