His Excellency Mr Stefan Haukur Johannesson was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Iceland to the Court of St James’s.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Duff upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant-Colonel Justin Stenhouse upon assuming the appointment, and subsequently received soldiers from the Regiment who responded to the shootings in Las Vegas in October 2017.

The Queen arrived at Portsmouth Harbour Station this morning and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr Nigel Atkinson) and the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth (Councillor Kenneth Ellcome).

Her Majesty drove to The Princess Royal Jetty at HM Naval Base, Portsmouth, and was received by The Princess Royal (Commodore-in-Chief, Portsmouth) and Commodore Jeremy Kyd RN (Captain of HMS Queen Elizabeth).

The Queen, accompanied by The Princess Royal and the Captain, embarked in HMS Queen Elizabeth and was received by Admiral Sir Philip Jones (First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff) before being received with a Royal Salute.

Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness inspected the Parade.

The Queen and The Princess Royal afterwards attended the Commissioning Ceremony of HMS Queen Elizabeth led by the Chaplain of the Fleet (the Venerable Ian Wheatley) and Her Majesty was graciously pleased to address the Ship’s Company and the Captain replied.

The Queen and The Princess Royal this afternoon attended a Reception onboard the Ship and met representatives of the Ship’s Company, the Aircraft Carrier Alliance and the wider Royal Navy family.

Her Majesty, with Her Royal Highness, was subsequently entertained to Luncheon by the Captain on board HMS Queen Elizabeth.
