The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, travelled from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster today to open the Session of Parliament.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received at the Sovereign’s Entrance by the Earl Marshal, the Lord Great Chamberlain and the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod.

A Guard of Honour was mounted at the Palace of Westminster found by 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards with the State Colour, under the command of Major James Colby.

A staircase party of The Household Cavalry was on duty at Victoria Tower, House of Lords, under the command of Major Alexander Owen.

Royal Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major James Luck, and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Captain Greg Hall.

The Imperial State Crown, the Cap of Maintenance and the Sword of State were conveyed previously to the House of Lords.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms was on duty in the Prince’s Chamber and The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard was on duty in the Royal Gallery.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness returned to Buckingham Palace and were received by the Vice-Chamberlain of the Household.

The Queen honoured Ascot Races with her presence this afternoon.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited the Muslim Welfare House, Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, London N4, and was received by Wing Commander Michael Dudgeon (Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Prince of Wales, President, the Great Steward of Scotland’s Dumfries House Trust, and The Duchess of Cornwall this evening held a Dinner at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen, with The Duke of Edinburgh, honoured Ascot Races with her presence today.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were represented by Sir Kenneth Scott (Extra Equerry to The Queen and formerly Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) at the Funeral of the Lord Bridges (formerly Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic), which was held in St Bartholomew’s Church, Orford, Suffolk, this afternoon.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Lieutenant-Colonel Grenville Johnston (Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Moray) at the Funeral of Air Vice-Marshal George Chesworth (formerly Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Moray), which was held in St Leonard’s Church, Forres, Moray, this afternoon.

The Duke of York was represented by Mrs Oliver Russell.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, President, Royal Choral Society, was represented by Mr Nicholas Marden (Private Secretary to His Royal Highness) at the Memorial Service for Mr Anthony Forbes (formerly Chairman), which was held in the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1, this afternoon.
