The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a Service of Dedication on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1, for the Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial and, following a Royal Salute, were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr. Kenneth Olisa), the Chief of the Defence Staff (Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach) and Air Vice Marshal Garry Tunnicliffe (Defence Services Secretary).

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Henry of Wales, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal, and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, accompanied by Earl of Ulster, were present.

After the Service The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove to Richmond Terrace and were received by the Marshal of the Royal Air Force the Lord Stirrup KG (Chairman of Trustees, Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial Project).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness subsequently walked to Victoria Embankment Gardens and met Memorial Trustees and some of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan between 1990 and 2015.

The Bishop of Lambeth and Bishop to the Armed Forces afterwards dedicated the Memorial and The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, unveiled the Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial.

Other Members of the Royal Family subsequently attended a Reception on Horse Guards Parade.

The Queen was represented by Mr. David Medlock (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Lord Waddington (formerly Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Bermuda) which was held at St. John the Baptist Church, Horsington, Somerset, this afternoon.

His Excellency Mr. Erlan Idrissov was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Court of St. James’s.

Mrs. Idrissova was also received by Her Majesty.

Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.
