The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning drove to the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh, and were received at Queensberry House by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon. the Lord Provost), Mr Kenneth Mackintosh MSP (Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament) and the Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon MSP (First Minister of the Scottish Government).

The Presiding Officer welcomed Her Majesty and His Royal Highness and The Queen was graciously pleased to address the Scottish Parliament.

The First Minister subsequently addressed the Parliament and the Presiding Officer closed the Session of Parliament.

A Guard of Honour was found by The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the High Constables of the Palace of Holyroodhouse were on duty.

The Queen arrived at Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station this morning and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

Her Majesty drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and this afternoon The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.

A Guard of Honour found by A Company, The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Major Douglas Watson, was mounted in the Forecourt.

Afterwards Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received inside the Palace by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).

The Duke of Edinburgh, Royal Colonel, this morning visited The Highlanders, 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland at Bourlon Barracks, Catterick, North Yorkshire.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills, and were received at the Visitor Centre by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim (Mrs. Joan Christie), the Rt. Hon. Theresa Villiers MP (Secretary of State for Northern Ireland), Mrs. Arlene Foster MLA (First Minister of Northern Ireland) and the Chairman of the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty (Dr. Robert Brown).

Her Majesty, escorted by the Chairman, and His Royal Highness, escorted by Ms. Heather McLachlan (Director), viewed a short film about Finn MacCool and the Giant’s Causeway and met members of staff, guides, volunteers and local food and craft suppliers.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove to the Causeway Stones and viewed the Causeway.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards visited Bushmills Village and were received by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council (Alderman Maura Hickey) and the Parade Commander (Mr. Gardiner Kane).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended an Act of Remembrance and Her Majesty unveiled a Statue in memory of Sergeant Robert Quigg VC.

His Royal Highness unveiled a Commemorative Stone plaque in memory of Sergeant Robert Quigg VC.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended a Reception given by the Mayor at Royal Portrush Gold Club, Dunluce Road, Portrush, County Antrim, and were received by the President of Royal Portrush Golf Club (Mr. Hugh Clarke) and Councillor James McCorkell (Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were entertained to Luncheon.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later arrived at Coleraine Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Londonderry (Mr. Denis Desmond), the Chairman of Translink Group (Mr. Frank Hewitt) and the President of Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (the Lord O’ Neill).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness boarded a steam train and travelled along the North Antrim coast to Bellarena Railway Station.

The Queen opened the new Station Platforms.
