Lady Ogilvy, today held a Chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle.

Her Majesty invested the Lord Shuttleworth and Sir David Brewer with the Insignia of Knights Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The Installation Service was held in St. George’s Chapel this afternoon.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended the Patron’s Lunch in the Mall, a celebration of Her Majesty’s Patronage of over Six Hundred organisations within the United Kingdom and around the Commonwealth since 1952.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove down the Mall in the State Review Vehicle and were received at Admiralty Arch by Mr. Peter Phillips (Event Director, the Patron’s Lunch).

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales, Joint Patrons, the Patron’s Lunch, and Sir Stuart Etherington (Chairman of the Trustees, the Patron’s Fund) addressed The Queen and Her Majesty was graciously pleased to reply.

Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales, travelled back to Buckingham Palace and entered the Royal Box at the Queen Victoria Memorial to view the parade representing Her Majesty’s Reign and Patronages.

Her Majesty was present at The Queen’s Birthday Parade on Horse Guards Parade this morning at which The Queen’s Colour of Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards (2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards) was trooped.

The Queen was accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh (Colonel, Grenadier Guards), The Duke of Kent (Colonel, Scots Guards), The Prince of Wales (Colonel, Welsh Guards), The Duke of Cambridge (Colonel, Irish Guards) and The Princess Royal (Gold Stick in Waiting and Colonel, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

Her Majesty was attended by Field Marshal the Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank (Colonel, The Life Guards), Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall (Colonel, Coldstream Guards) and Major General Edward Smyth-Osbourne (Major General Commanding Household Division).

The Lord Vestey (Master of the Horse), Colonel Toby Browne, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Vernon (Mounted Equerries in Waiting), Captain Hugo Codrington (Coldstream Guards, Dismounted Equerry in Waiting) and Lieutenant Colonel James Gaselee (The Life Guards, Silver Stick in Waiting) were in attendance.

Colonel Crispin Lockhart (Chief of Staff), Lieutenant Colonel Harry Scott (Silver Stick Adjutant) and the Household Division Staff were present.

Lady Ogilvy and other Members of the Royal Family drove to Horse Guards Parade and witnessed The Queen’s Birthday Parade.

On the conclusion of the Parade, Her Majesty drove in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of The Queen’s Guard, preceded by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major Robert Skeggs, the Massed Mounted Bands of the Household Cavalry, the Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry, under the command of Major Alexander Owen, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), and the Massed Bands of the Guards Division.

On arrival at Buckingham Palace, The Queen’s Guard entered the Forecourt and formed up opposite the Old Guard.

Her Majesty, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force, led by Wing Commander James Freeborough, Royal Air Force, to mark the official celebration of The Queen’s Birthday.

Royal Salutes were fired today by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Green Park and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Captain George Cobb.

Major General Edward Smyth-Osbourne was received afterwards by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Major General Commanding Household Division when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Service was conducted by the Dean of St. Paul’s with the Bishop of London, Lessons were read by the Canon Pastor, Canon in Residence, and the Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP, Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury, the Address was given by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and a piece was read by Sir David Attenborough.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon entertained Commonwealth Governors-General to Luncheon at Buckingham Palace at which The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were present.

Other Members of the Royal Family attended a Reception at Guildhall given by the Lord Mayor and the City of London Corporation.

Today is the Anniversary of the Birthday of The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Queen this morning visited Marlborough House, London SW1, to officially launch the “Commonwealth Hub” which brings Commonwealth organisations together in one place and was received by the Commonwealth Secretary-General (Her Excellency the Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland).

Her Majesty met Commonwealth High Commissioners, Commonwealth Secretariat staff and representatives from the Commonwealth Games Federation, the Royal Commonwealth Society and the Commonwealth Local Government Forum.

The Lord Peel (Lord Chamberlain) had an audience of The Queen and presented an Address from the House of Lords to which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to make reply.

The Lord Shuttleworth was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

Sir David Brewer was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The Queen held a Council at 5.15 p.m. at which The Duke of Edinburgh was present.
