The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, afterwards attended a Reception at San Anton Palace for new Commonwealth Heads of Government.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this evening gave a Dinner for Commonwealth Heads of Government at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Valletta, at which The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were present.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron and First Friend, Friends of St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Valletta, this morning attended a Service of Thanksgiving in the Cathedral followed by a Reception for the Friends of the Cathedral and the Royal Naval Officers’ Association.

His Royal Highness, Founder and Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association, with The President of the Republic of Malta (Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in Malta) this afternoon attended a Luncheon held by the Friends of the Award (Malta) at Casino Maltese, Republic Street, Valletta.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Captain General, Royal Marines, was represented by Lieutenant General Sir James Dutton at the Memorial Service for Major General John Chester which was held at the Church of St Lawrence Jewry-next-Guildhall, London EC2, this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited the Out of the Blue, Prince of Wales Commonwealth Environmental Photography Awards exhibition at the Maritime Museum, Vittoriosa, Malta.

His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Meeting at the Maritime Museum with representatives of the Commonwealth Secretariat Youth Directorate. The Prince of Wales later attended the Special Executive Session on Climate Action at the Malta Golden Sands Hotel, Mellieha.

His Royal Highness today received the Prime Ministers of Canada, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Cyprus.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, Booktrust, this morning visited the Agra Mieghi (Read With Me) literacy project and attended a school fair at St Thomas More College Primary School, Zejtun.

Her Royal Highness afterwards attended a Reception for veterans, sea scouts and Armed Forces personnel, given by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Malta (Mr Robert Luke) at the Residence in Valletta.

The Duchess of Gloucester this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for Belgium and was received this afternoon upon arrival at Brussels Airport by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium (Her Excellency Miss Alison Rose).

Her Royal Highness, Honorary President, the Lawn Tennis Association, later attended the Davis Cup Final between Belgium and Great Britain at Flanders Expo, Maaltekouter 1, Ghent.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta was subsequently received in audience by The Queen.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, this evening attended a Reception at San Anton Palace given by The President of the Republic of Malta and Mr Preca.

At the conclusion of the Service, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh proceeded to Church House for the Inauguration Ceremony of the Tenth General Synod of the Church of England.

The Queen read the formal Declaration of Inauguration and was graciously pleased to address the Synod.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Birmingham New Street Railway Station this morning and were received by Colonel George Marsh (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands), the Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP (Secretary of State for Transport) and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham (Councillor Raymond Hassall).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, escorted respectively by the Chairman of Network Rail Limited (Sir Peter Hendy) and Mr Christopher Montgomery (Network Rail Project Director), toured the Station, viewing exhibition stands depicting the history of Birmingham New Street Railway Station and meeting members of the train and station staff.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh listened to a fanfare by students from the Birmingham Conservatoire and viewed a performance by Birmingham City Council Choir and Her Majesty re-opened Birmingham New Street Station.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh subsequently attended a Service of Dedication for the Pals War Memorial outside Birmingham New Street Station and were received by the Right Reverend David Urquhart (Bishop of Birmingham).

During the Service Her Majesty and His Royal Highness laid a wreath at the Memorial.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards drove to the Midland Metro Tram Extension, Bull Street Metro Stop, Bull Street, Birmingham, and were received by the Chairman of Centro (Councillor John McNicholas).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness moved on to the platform, escorted respectively by Mr Geoffrey Inskip (Chief Executive of Centro) and Councillor Roger Lawrence (Chairman of the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority) where The Queen named a new tram Angus Adams, before Her Majesty and His Royal Highness viewed the cabin and met members of Centro staff and the tram driver.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, later opened Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry, Pebble Mill Road, Birmingham, and was received by the Chairman of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust (Mr Thomas Storrow) and Mrs Tracy Taylor (Chief Executive Officer).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness toured the Hospital and School, escorted respectively by the Chief Executive Officer and Professor Philip Lumley (Head of the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry), meeting consultants, senior managers and members of research staff.
