The Countess of Wessex this afternoon opened the Thames Valley Air Ambulance Base at Royal Air Force Benson, Wallingford, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire (Mr Timothy Stevenson).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a Service of Thanksgiving to commemorate the Seventieth Anniversary of Victory in Europe at Westminster Abbey, London SW1, and were received at the Great West Door by the Dean of Westminster (the Very Reverend Dr John Hall) and Chapter and the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Her Majesty laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex and The Duke of Kent were present.

The Prince of Wales, accompanied by The Duchess of Cornwall, later took the salute at the Veterans’ March Past, Whitehall, London SW1.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall subsequently attended a Reception and met Second World War Veterans, St James’s Park, London SW1.

Prince Henry of Wales this morning received a Civic Welcome at Invercargill Airport, New Zealand.

His Royal Highness today visited Stewart Island and afterwards visited Ulva Island.

Prince Henry of Wales later attended a Service in St Andrew’s Church, Stewart Island.

Princess Alexandra, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Lancers, this morning took the salute and laid a wreath at the Annual Parade and Service of the Combined Cavalry Old Comrades Association in Hyde Park, London W2.

Her Royal Highness, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, later attended a Regimental Lunch given by The Royal Lancers at the Cavalry and Guards Club, 127 Piccadilly, London W1.

His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Reception for Members of Parliament at Government House, Wellington, and was received by the Governor-General and Lady Mateparae.

Prince Henry of Wales later laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in Wellington.

The Countess of Wessex, on behalf of The Queen, this morning attended a Service for the Seventieth Anniversary of the Liberation of Guernsey at Footes Lane, St Peter Port, and was received by the Lieutenant Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Bailiwick of Guernsey (Air Marshal Peter Walker).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited Weighbridge to mark the Seventieth Anniversary of the Liberation of the Island and met survivors of the occupation.

The Countess of Wessex, on behalf of The Queen, later attended a Garden Party at Grainville Playing Fields, St Saviour, and was received by the Lieutenant Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Jersey (General Sir John McColl).

Her Royal Highness subsequently attended a Seventieth Anniversary Liberation Ceremony and Parade at People’s Park, St Helier, and met survivors of the occupation.

The Rt Hon David Cameron (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this afternoon on the conclusion of the coalition government, during which Mr Cameron informed Her Majesty of his willingness to continue his commission as Prime Minister.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this evening lit the first of a series of beacons to mark the Seventieth Anniversary of Victory in Europe at Windsor Castle and was received by the Deputy Ranger of Windsor Great Park (Mr Paul Sedgwick), Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (Mr James Puxley), the National Chairman of the Royal British Legion (Mr John Crisford), the Beacon Event Organiser (Mr Bruno Peek) and the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (Councillor Richard Kellaway).

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall this morning opened Poundbury Cancer Institute, Newborough House, Queen Mother Square, Poundbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset (Mr Angus Campbell).

His Royal Highness, Patron, this afternoon opened the Guinness Partnership’s Two Hundred and Fiftieth House at Poundbury.

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall later attended a Reception for Women in Rural Enterprise, Brownsword Hall, Poundbury.

The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Lancers, this afternoon arrived at Richmond Castle to attend the Amalgamation Parade of The Queen’s Royal Lancers and 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales’s) to form The Royal Lancers, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire (Mr Barry Dodd), the Colonel, The Queen’s Royal Lancers (Major General Patrick Marriott), the Colonel, 9th/12th Royal Lancers, Prince of Wales’s (Major General James Short) and the Colonel, The Royal Lancers (Brigadier Andrew Hughes).

Her Majesty was received with a Royal Salute and inspected the two Regiments.

The Queen subsequently attended the Amalgamation Service, conducted by the Chaplain General to Her Majesty’s Land Forces (the Reverend Dr David Coulter), during which the flags of The Queen’s Royal Lancers and 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales’s) were lowered and the flag of The Royal Lancers was raised.

Her Majesty was graciously pleased to address The Royal Lancers and the Colonel of the Regiment replied.

The Queen witnessed a fly-past by Hawks from 100 Squadron, Royal Air Force Leeming.

The Royal Lancers then marched past Her Majesty.

The Queen afterwards attended a Reception in the Marquee.

The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34 a.m. today.

Her Royal Highness and her child are both well.
