The Queen, Royal Colonel, this morning visited The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland at Howe Barracks, Canterbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Kent (the Viscount De L’Isle), the Colonel of the Regiment (Lieutenant General Andrew Graham) and the Lord Mayor of Canterbury (Councillor Heather Taylor).

Her Majesty was received on Parade Square with a Royal Salute.

The Queen inspected the Guard and the Battalion subsequently marched past Her Majesty.

The Queen, escorted by the Commanding Officer (Lieutenant Colonel Neil Den-McKay), then toured the Barracks, meeting soldiers, families and supporters of the Battalion, viewing capability displays and meeting soldiers from the newly formed Balaklava Company.

Her Majesty was entertained to Luncheon in the Officers’ Mess this afternoon by the Commanding Officer.

The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

Lady Belgrave was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Lancers, received Lieutenant Colonel Nigel Best upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Jules Buckzacki upon assuming the appointment.

Major General Patrick Marriott (Colonel) was present.

The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr Ben Lyster-Binns (the Oriental Republic of Uruguay), Mr Timothy Smart (the Republic of Madagascar), Mr Michael Gifford (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) and Mr Clive Alderton (the Kingdom of Morocco).
