The Duke of Gloucester, accompanied by The Duchess of Gloucester, this morning took the salute at the March Past in Nottingham City Centre on National Armed Forces Day and, having been received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire (Sir John Peace), afterwards attended the Drumhead Service in Old Market Square.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Honorary President, this evening attended the Lawn Tennis Association Wimbledon Ball at the Boiler House, Battersea Power Station, London SW8.

Buckingham Palace 

The Queen, Royal Colonel, this morning visited The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland at Howe Barracks, Canterbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Kent (the Viscount De L’Isle), the Colonel of the Regiment (Lieutenant General Andrew Graham) and the Lord Mayor of Canterbury (Councillor Heather Taylor).

Her Majesty was received on Parade Square with a Royal Salute.

The Queen inspected the Guard and the Battalion subsequently marched past Her Majesty.

The Queen, escorted by the Commanding Officer (Lieutenant Colonel Neil Den-McKay), then toured the Barracks, meeting soldiers, families and supporters of the Battalion, viewing capability displays and meeting soldiers from the newly formed Balaklava Company.

Her Majesty was entertained to Luncheon in the Officers’ Mess this afternoon by the Commanding Officer.

The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, accompanied by The President of the Republic of Slovenia, later attended a Reception at Brdo Pri Kranju, Predoslje, Kranj, for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, this afternoon presented Operational Service medals to members of The Royal Dragoon Guards who have recently returned from Afghanistan and subsequently held a Reception at Clarence House for Service personnel and their families.

The Prince of Wales later received the Prime Minister of Belize and Mrs Barrow.

His Royal Highness this evening held a “Resilience and Long-term: Rethinking Portfolio Strategy” Conference at St James’s Palace, convened by The Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability Project, Business in the Community, the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership and The Prince’s International Sustainability Unit.

The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon attended the Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex subsequently visited the British International School, Podmilšcakova ulica 24, Ljubljana.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon attended a Luncheon with the Mayors of Bled and Henley-on-Thames at the Grand Hotel Toplice, Cesta svobode, Bled, followed by a Reception to promote British culture and One Hundred Years of engineering innovation.

Her Royal Highness, Royal Fellow, the Royal Academy of Engineering, this evening attended the “Engineering: Design for Living” Exhibition and Dinner at the Ron Cooke Hub, the University of York, Deramore Lane, Heslington, York, and was received by Professor Sir Ronald Cooke (Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire).

The Duke of Kent, Patron, London Philharmonic Orchestra, this evening attended a Fundraising Gala at Guildhall, Gresham Street, London EC2.

His Excellency the Hon Sir Elliott Belgrave was received in audience by The Queen today upon his appointment of Governor-General of Barbados.

Lady Belgrave was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Lancers, received Lieutenant Colonel Nigel Best upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Jules Buckzacki upon assuming the appointment.

Major General Patrick Marriott (Colonel) was present.

The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr Ben Lyster-Binns (the Oriental Republic of Uruguay), Mr Timothy Smart (the Republic of Madagascar), Mr Michael Gifford (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) and Mr Clive Alderton (the Kingdom of Morocco).

Mrs Lyster-Binns, Miss Veronika Kantorovitch, Mrs Gifford and Mrs Alderton were also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, Grenadier Guards, was received this afternoon by Major General Sir George Norton (Regimental Lieutenant Colonel) before being received on the Terrace of Buckingham Palace with a Royal Salute.

Her Majesty then inspected The Queen’s Company and Nijmegen Company before presenting New Colours to Nijmegen Company.

After the presentation The Queen addressed the Companies and the Grenadier Guards Association and the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel replied.

The Queen’s Company and Nijmegen Company subsequently marched past Her Majesty.

The Queen, Patron, Grenadier Guards Association, having been received by Colonel Euan Houstoun (President), afterwards gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

The Rt Hon David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

By command of The Queen, Mr Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Georg Boomgaarden at 22 Belgrave Square, London SW1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Federal Republic of Germany to the Court of St James’s.
