Buckingham Palace 

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today visited the South East in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this morning viewed a Parade of Sail in the Solent off the Isle of Wight from MY Leander and were received with a Gun Salute.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh disembarked from MY Leander at Trinity Landing, Cowes, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Isle of Wight (Major General Martin White) and the Cowes Harbourmaster (Mr Stuart McIntosh).

The Queen, escorted by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by Mrs Martin White, walked to Victoria Parade and viewed a performance of the Jubilee Anthem and were received by the Mayor of Cowes (Councillor David Walters).

Her Majesty, Patron, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, accompanied by His Royal Highness, afterwards opened Cowes Lifeboat Station, Watch House Lane, Cowes, and was received by the Chairman of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (the Lord Boyce) and the Chairman of Cowes Lifeboat (Mr David Hembury).

The Queen, escorted by Mr Mark Southwell (Royal National Lifeboat Institution Operations Manager), and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by the Chairman, toured the Lifeboat Station, meeting crew members and donors.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness attended a Service of Dedication and subsequently viewed the launch of a Lifeboat.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later visited Cowes Yacht Haven, Vectis Yard, High Street, Cowes, and were received by Sir Guy Acland (Vice Lord-Lieutenant), the Chairman (Mr Paul Kelsey) and the Mayor of East Cowes (Mrs Trevor Rann).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness met representatives from youth, water activities and volunteering groups and viewed a photographic montage of Osborne House.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon visited the New Forest and Hampshire County Show, the Showground, New Park, Brockenhurst, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness visited the “Old Time Farming” area and, having been received by the President of the New Forest and Hampshire County Show (Mr Alan Titchmarsh) and the Chairman of the New Forest Agricultural Show Society (Mr Geoff Morgan), viewed a display of vintage tractors and the Blacksmith Area.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained to Luncheon this afternoon by the New Forest and Hampshire County Show.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards walked to the “Best of British” Pavilion and viewed displays of local crafts and produce.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh viewed a Parade of sixty New Forest Ponies in the East Ring and subsequently met local pony breeders and viewed New Forest Ponies and a wood branding demonstration in “New Forest Corner”.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards visited the “Local Food and Farming” Area and viewed displays of produce and a “Show Farm” and met producers.

The Rt Hon David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

Sir David Brewer (Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London) was present at Heathrow Airport, London, today upon the arrival of The President of Iceland and The President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and welcomed Their Excellencies on behalf of Her Majesty.

The Lord Petre (Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Essex) was present at Stansted Airport today upon the arrival of The President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and welcomed Their Excellencies on behalf of The Queen.

Brigadier David Harrison (Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire) was present at Farnborough Airport today upon the Arrival of The President of the Federative Republic of Brazil and welcomed Her Excellency on behalf of The Queen.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the Sandringham Flower Show.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon attended a Prince’s Charities’ Meeting at the Haringey Mencap Community Centre, Bell Brewery, 676 Tottenham High Road, Tottenham, London N17, and afterwards His Royal Highness, President, The Prince’s Trust, and Her Royal Highness witnessed the exchange of the Olympic Torch outside the Community Centre, and were received by Major Rosemary Warne (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today continued the visit to the North East of England in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness visited West Yorkshire and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Dr Ingrid Roscoe).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were present this morning at the Topping Out Ceremony for Leeds Arena, Wade Lane, Leeds, and were received by the Leader of Leeds City Council (Councillor Keith Wakefield) and the Lord Mayor of Leeds (Councillor Anne Castle).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, escorted respectively by Mr Martin Farrington (Director of City Development) and Mr Christopher Coulson (Arena Project Team Leader), met the construction crew, apprentices, Arena Operators and the project team, before viewing a musical performance by a children’s choir and an acrobatic display from the roof of the Arena.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received by the Chairman of the Board of Leeds Grand Theatre and Opera House (Councillor Adam Ogilvie) and Mr Andrew Macgill (Theatres Director) before walking up Swan Street, Leeds, to the City Varieties Music Hall.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, escorted respectively by the Chairman and the Theatres Director, met board members and members of the project team and viewed a Good Old Days theatrical performance by the City Varieties Youth Theatre Company.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were subsequently received by Mr John Ebo (Deputy Head of Services City Centre Management) and Ms Catherine Folin (Head of City Centre and Markets), who escorted Her Majesty and His Royal Highness on a walkabout down Swan Street and along Briggate.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained to Luncheon this afternoon by the Chairman of Pace plc (Mr Allan Leighton) at the Company’s Headquarters in Victoria Road, Saltaire.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, this morning arrived in Guernsey and were received at the Airport by the Lieutenant-Governor and Commander-in-Chief (Air Marshal Peter Walker).

Their Royal Highnesses firstly visited youth and community groups at Saumarez Park and the restoration of Guernsey Botanical Trust’s Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden, before opening the new Orchard House glasshouse.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon opened the renovated les Bourgs Hospice, rue du Tertre, St. Andrew’s.

Their Royal Highnesses afterwards attended an Allegiance Ceremony to The Queen on behalf of the people of Guernsey at Castle Cornet, St Peter Port.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later attended a Reception at the White House Gardens, Herm Island.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today commenced a visit to the North East of England in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this morning disembarked from My Leander at Corporation Quay, South Docks, Sunderland, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear (Mr Nigel Sherlock), the Chairman of the Port Authority (Councillor Paul Watson) and the Mayor of the City of Sunderland (Councillor Iain Kay).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Mayor of the City of Sunderland and Mr David Smith (Chief Executive of the City of Sunderland), moved through marquees, viewing “Street Parties” and activities depicting each of the last six decades.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the South Side of Tyne Tunnel 2 at Jarrow and, upon arrival, The Queen started the wheelchair race through the Tunnel.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received at the Tunnel by the Chairman of Tyne Tunnel 2 (Mr Lesley Tenant) and the Mayor of South Tyneside (Councillor Eileen Leask).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, escorted respectively by Mr Trevor Jackson (Managing Director, Tyne Tunnel 2) and Mr Barry Rowland (Clerk of Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority), met representatives of local communities and the construction and design team before planting a commemorative Royal Oak tree.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh then drove through the Tunnel and were received at the North Side in Wallsend by the Chairman of North Tyneside Council (Councillor Francis Lott).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness met wheelchair athletes and congratulated the winner of the Tunnel Race, before meeting Tunnel staff and representatives from local communities.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, subsequently officially opened Tyne Tunnel 2.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness later attended a Diamond Jubilee Celebration in Gateshead International Stadium, Neilson Road, Gateshead, and were received by the Chief Executive of Gateshead Council (Mrs Jane Robinson) and the Mayor of Gateshead (Councillor Malcolm Brain).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Mayor of Gateshead and the Chief Executive of Gateshead Council, listened to a choir of schoolchildren singing the Diamond Jubilee song, before meeting schoolchildren from Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, North and South Tyneside and Sunderland.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon arrived at Durham Castle and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham (Sir Paul Nicholson), the Chairman of Durham County Council (Councillor Linda Marshall), the Chairman of Durham University Council (Mrs Anne Galbraith) and the Mayor of Durham (Councillor John Wilkinson).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh met representatives from voluntary and community sector and cultural partnerships, and the business community and Durham University, before being entertained to Luncheon in the Great Hall by Durham University (Professor Christopher Higgins, Vice-Chancellor) and Durham County Council.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness later visited the Tees Barrage White Water Course, Stockton-on-Tees, and were received by the Chief Executive of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council (Mr Neil Schneider) and the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council (Councillor Lynne Apedaile).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh crossed the bridge and received an explanation of the Tees Barrage construction, before re-crossing the bridge and viewing the Archimedes Screws and meeting representatives from the environment agency and river users and the Fire and Rescue Service and viewing rescue vehicle training in the water course.

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, then opened The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee White Water Course by pressing a button to release the water.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh subsequently viewed canoeists using the short course, and canoeists and rafts along the long course.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, today visited Jersey and were received this morning at Jersey Airport by the Lieutenant-Governor and Commander-in-Chief (General Sir John McColl).

Their Royal Highnesses first opened the new building at Grainville School, Deloraine Road, St. Saviour, and The Prince of Wales, as President, The Prince’s Trust, met representatives of the Jersey Prince’s Trust.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon attended a Special Meeting of the States in the Royal Square, St Helier.

Their Royal Highnesses afterwards visited the Central Market in St Helier.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later visited the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society Show, Royal Jersey Showground, Route de la Trinité, Trinity.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the National Trust for Jersey, afterwards visited the newly restored property at 16 New Street, St Helier.

The Prince of Wales subsequently visited St Helier Parish Church to view the recently completed restoration work.

Their Royal Highnesses this evening attended a States Dinner given by the Bailiff of Jersey and Lady Birt at Samarès Manor, St Clement.

The Earl of Wessex, Patron, this afternoon viewed the London Gardens Society’s prize winning gardens in London and was received by Mr Richard Walker-Arnott (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Viscount Ridley was received by Her Majesty and delivered up the Insignia of the Order of the Garter worn by his father, the late Viscount Ridley.

Mr Alistair Wood was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Private Secretary and Comptroller to The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order.
