The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today continued the visit to the West Midlands to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning arrived at Birmingham Snow Hill Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands (Mr Paul Sabapathy) and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham (Councillor John Lines).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Victoria Square and undertook a walkabout in the Square.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Mindelsohn Way, Edgbaston, Birmingham, and were received by the Chairman, University Hospitals Birmingham (Sir Albert Bore).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, escorted respectively by Ms Julie Moore (Chief Executive) and Mr Kevin Bolger (Chief Operating Officer), viewed a short presentation about the Hospital and attended two Receptions.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later visited the Royal Air Force Museum, Royal Air Force Cosford, Shifnal, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire (Mr Algernon Heber-Percy), the Station Commander (Group Captain J. Johnston), the Chairman of the Trustees of the Museum (Air Chief Marshal Sir John Day) and the Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin (Councillor Kevin Guy).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness attended a Reception and were subsequently entertained to Luncheon by the Chairman of the Trustees of the Museum.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon drove around the Royal Air Force Museum and the airfield, before viewing a pageant.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today commenced a visit to the West Midlands to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and were received at Hereford Railway Station by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire (the Countess of Darnley) and the Mayor of Hereford (Councillor Brian Wilcox).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Hereford Cathedral and were received by the Dean (the Very Reverend Michael Tavinor) and the Bishop of Hereford (the Right Reverend Anthony Priddis).

The Queen, escorted by the Dean, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by the Reverend Canon Andrew Piper (Precentor), viewed the Cathedral project master plans and met volunteers and members of the Cathedral community.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards visited King George V Playing Fields, Hereford, were received by the Chairman of Wye Trow Project (Mr Robert Tabor) and viewed a parade of Herefordshire Life.

The Queen visited local community marquees and, having been received by the Mayors of Ledbury (Councillor Phillip Bettington), Kington (Councillor Robert Widdowson), Bromyard (Councillor J. Pierce Higgins), and Councillor Graham Powell (Lead Councillor for Rural Localities), met local residents.

The Duke of Edinburgh visited local community marquees and met local residents from Hereford, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye, and members of Herefordshire faith groups.

Her Majesty, with His Royal Highness, later officially opened the Hive, University of Worcester, Sawmill Walk, the Butts, Worcester, and was received by Mrs Michael Brinton (Deputy Lieutenant of Worcestershire), The Duke of Gloucester (Chancellor) and the Mayor of Worcester (Councillor Roger Berry).

The Queen, escorted by The Duke of Gloucester and Councillor Adrian Hardman (Leader, Worcestershire County Council), and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by Mrs Patricia Haines (Chief Executive, Worcestershire County Council), toured the Hive, viewing library facilities and displays of artwork and meeting library users and members of staff.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were entertained to Luncheon at Worcester Guildhall this afternoon by the Mayor of Worcester.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later visited Worcester Cathedral, were received by Professor Michael Clarke (Deputy Lieutenant of Worcestershire) and the Dean of Worcester (the Very Reverend Peter Atkinson) and viewed a performance of Sixty Years of Worcestershire Life.
