Palace of Holyroodhouse 

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by The Princess Royal and The Countess of Strathearn, this morning attended a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral for the Installation of Prince William, Earl of Strathearn as a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses were received at St Giles’ Cathedral by the Chancellor of the Thistle (the Earl of Airlie) and the Dean of the Thistle and Minister of St Giles’ (the Very Reverend Gilleasbuig Macmillan).

The following Knights Brethren were present: the Earl of Elgin and Kincardine, the Earl of Airlie (Chancellor), the Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, Lady Marion Fraser, the Lord Macfarlane of Bearsden, the Lord Mackay of Clashfern, the Lord Wilson of Tillyorn, the Lord Sutherland of Houndwood, Sir Eric Anderson, the Lord Steel of Aikwood, the Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, the Lord Cullen of Whitekirk, Sir Garth Morrison, the Lord Hope of Craighead and the Lord Patel.

Other Officers of the Order who were present were: Mr David Sellar (Secretary and Lord Lyon King of Arms) and Rear Admiral Christopher Layman (Gentleman Usher of the Green Rod).

Mr Arthur Chatto (Page of Honour to The Queen) was in attendance.

A Guard of Honour was mounted in Parliament Square West by The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, with the Colours of the Royal Company, under the command of Captain, the Earl of Dalhousie, and accompanied by the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained to Luncheon at the Signet Library, Parliament Square, Edinburgh, by the Knights of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle and the Lady of the Order to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, this afternoon held a Reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The Prince of Wales, President, WWF-UK, this afternoon received representatives of the Green Ambassadors Scheme.

His Royal Highness, President, Business in the Community, this evening held a Reception for Dairy Initiative Farmers working with The Prince’s Rural Action Programme.

The Duke of York this afternoon opened the Shard, London Bridge Street, London SE1.

His Royal Highness later received Mr Angus Miller (Government Adviser on Caspian Energy and Climate Change).

The Earl and Countess of Wessex, in celebration of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, this morning named the regenerated seafront at De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea, “Jubilee Walk” and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex (Mr Peter Field).

Their Royal Highnesses later named the new lifeboat Diamond Jubilee at the Royal National Lifeboat Station, Sovereign Harbour Marina, Eastbourne, East Sussex.

The Earl of Wessex, Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, this afternoon attended a Court Meeting, followed this evening by the Installation Court Dinner, at Drapers’ Hall, Throgmorton Avenue, London EC2.

Buckingham Palace 

The Princess Royal this afternoon opened the new porch at Greyfriars Tolbooth and Highland Kirk and subsequently visited the Grassmarket Community Project at 1 Greyfriars Place, Edinburgh, and was received by Sir Thomas Farmer (Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh).

Kensington Palace 

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon attended a Luncheon at the Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, and was received by Mr Christian Wewer (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester).

His Royal Highness afterwards opened Wigan Life Centre (north site), the Wiend, Wigan.

The Duke of Gloucester later visited Amberswood, Greenheart Regional Park, Wigan.

His Royal Highness subsequently opened Diamond Jubilee Marina, Warrington.

The Duke of Gloucester later opened Greenheart Jubilee Way at Pennington Flashes, Pennington, Leigh.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Northamptonshire Museums and Historic Houses, this evening attended the Heritage Awards at the Icon Environmental Innovation Centre, Eastern Way, Daventry, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire (the Lady Juliet Townsend).

The Duke of Kent, President, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, today attended the Lawn Tennis Championships at Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a National Service of Thanksgiving for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee in Glasgow Cathedral and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Sadie Docherty, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and at the West Door of the Cathedral by the Minister (the Reverend Dr Laurence Whitley) and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland (the Right Reverend Albert Bogle).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to George Square where The Queen met winners of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and representatives from Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games organising committee and athletes, whilst The Duke of Edinburgh met winners of The Queen’s Award for Trade and Enterprise, representatives from Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries and, as Patron, those who have achieved the Gold Standard in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon visited St Margaret of Scotland Hospice, East Barns Street, Clydebank, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire (Rear Admiral Michael Gregory), the Chairman of the Board (Professor Leo Martin), Sister Rita Dawson (Chief Executive) and the Provost of West Dunbartonshire Council (Mr Douglas McAllister).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were afterwards entertained to Luncheon in the grounds of Our Holy Redeemer Primary School, East Barns Street, Clydebank.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness later arrived in Cathcart Square, Greenock, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire (Mr Guy Clark).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh viewed a model of Inverclyde Regeneration Area and Her Majesty subsequently met representatives from Inverclyde Community Development Trust and Inverclyde Tourist Group/ClydePort, escorted by the Provost of Inverclyde Council (Councillor Robert Moran), whilst His Royal Highness met representatives from Ocean Youth Trust Scotland and Port Glasgow Otters, escorted by the Chief Executive of Inverclyde Council (Mr John Mundell).

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, afterwards officially opened the Customer Service Centre at Inverclyde Council Municipal Buildings.

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall today visited Cornwall and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Colonel Edward Bolitho).

His Royal Highness, Patron, this morning received a tree from the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association to mark the Sixtieth Anniversary of becoming Duke of Cornwall.

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Patron, the Red Squirrel Survival Trust, later attended a Meeting at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, Lostwithiel.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon met Cornish Cadets taking part in a training exercise in Park Road, Lostwithiel.

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, President, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, afterwards visited the Duchy Palace restoration project on Quay Street, Lostwithiel.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, this morning opened the new Headquarters at Newquay Airport as part of the Trust’s Twenty Fifth Anniversary celebrations.

The Duke of York, Colonel-in-Chief, Small Arms School Corps, and Patron, Army Rifle Association, this afternoon presented The Queen’s Medals to prize winners from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley, Surrey.

The Princess Royal, President, British Olympic Association, this morning visited Team GB Preparation Camp at Loughborough University and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire (Jennifer, Lady Gretton).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened Brooksby Melton College Animal and Equine Centre, Brooksby College, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

The Princess Royal later opened the new Warning Zone Interactive Learning Environment, 20 Frog Island, Leicester.

The Duke of Gloucester, President, British Expertise, this morning received Mr Stephen Taylor upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and Mr Michael Blackburn upon assuming the appointment.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, Friends of St Paul’s Cathedral, this afternoon attended the Sixtieth Anniversary Annual Festival Service in St Paul’s Cathedral, London EC4.

The Queen held an Investiture at the Palace of Holyroodhouse this morning.

The Rt Hon Alex Salmond MSP (First Minister of the Scottish Executive) was received in audience by Her Majesty today.

Mrs Patricia Marwick MSP (Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament) was received in audience by The Queen.

The Lord Selkirk of Douglas (Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland) was received by Her Majesty and reported on the recent proceedings of the General Assembly.

Mr William Muir, winner of the annual shooting event of The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, was presented to Her Majesty and received The Queen’s Prize.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers and the High Constables of the Palace of Holyroodhouse were on duty.

The Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers and the Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society played selections of music during the afternoon.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Royal Honorary Colonel, City of Edinburgh Universities Officers Training Corps, today received Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Mackenzie upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall today visited the Isles of Scilly and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall (Colonel Edward Bolitho).

Their Royal Highnesses this morning opened Five Islands School, St Mary’s.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall afterwards visited St Mary’s and subsequently attended a Meeting with the Isles of Scilly Local Action Group at the Mermaid Inn, St Mary’s.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited the recently restored Gig Shed and met members of Tresco and Bryher Gig Club at Bar Quay, Bryher.

Her Royal Highness, Master, Corporation of Trinity House, this afternoon visited Oriana and took the Salute from the deck of Trinity House Vessel Patricia in a Fleet Review of seven cruise ships, as they passed Portsmouth on passage from Southampton to mark the One Hundred and Seventy Fifth Anniversary of P&O and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).

The Princess Royal, President, the Mission to Seafarers, was represented by Mr Robert Woods (Chairman) at the Memorial Service for the Life of the Reverend Tom Heffer (formerly Secretary General) which was held in the Parish Church of St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1, today.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Edinburgh Airport this afternoon.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and were received by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).

Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.

A Guard of Honour found by The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Lieutenant Douglas Dunlop, was mounted in the Forecourt.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, later officially re-opened the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, 1 Queen Street, Edinburgh, and was received by the Chairman of the National Galleries of Scotland (Mr Ben Thomson) and the Director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery (Ms Nicola Kalinsky).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness toured the galleries and met key donors of the renovation campaign.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this afternoon attended a Scottish Business Luncheon at Macdonald Holyrood Hotel, 81 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh.

Her Royal Highness today opened the newly renovated Tynemouth Station, Station Terrace, Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear.

The Princess Royal this afternoon opened BAE Systems Global Combat Systems Munitions new manufacturing site at 1 Radial Park Road, Washington, Tyne and Wear.

Her Royal Highness later opened Angel Court Extra Care Scheme, Angel Court, Waverley Road, Harlow Green, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened the Long Barn for the Society of Mary and Martha at the Sheldon Centre, Dunsford, Exeter, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Devon (Mr Eric Dancer).

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, today unveiled the Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park, London SW1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer), the President, Bomber Command Association (Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Michael Beetham) and Air Commodore Malcolm White (Chairman of the Association).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness attended a Service of Dedication and witnessed a fly-past by five Tornado aircraft of the Royal Air Force and the Avro Lancaster bomber from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards met British and Overseas World War Two Bomber Command veterans.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent were present.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended the Royal Honorary Air Commodores Luncheon at the Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly, London W1, and were received by Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton (Chief of the Air Staff), the President of the Royal Air Force Club (Marshal of the Royal Air Force the Lord Craig of Radley) and Air Vice-Marshal Matthew Wiles (Chairman).

The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy also attended.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Book Aid International, this morning received Mr Clive Nettleton upon relinquishing his appointment as Director and Mrs Alison Hubert upon assuming the appointment.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall met World War Two Bomber Command veterans this afternoon following the unveiling of the Memorial by The Queen.

The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon attended a Diamond Jubilee Tea for older people at St Paul’s Church, Onslow Square, London SW7, and was received by Lady Arnold (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today continued a visit to Northern Ireland.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this morning visited the Lyric Theatre, 55 Ridgeway Street, Belfast, and were received by the Chairman of Co-operation Ireland (Mr Christopher Moran), Mr Peter Sheridan (Chief Executive) and the Chairman of the Lyric Theatre (Mr Mark Carruthers).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh joined the Rt Hon Peter Robinson MLA (First Minister of Northern Ireland), Mr Martin McGinness MLA (Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland), The President of Ireland and Mrs Higgins in viewing an exhibition of portraiture and subsequently attended a Reception for the Arts given by Co-operation Ireland.

The President of Ireland and Mrs Higgins afterwards had a Meeting with Her Majesty and His Royal Highness.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later drove to Titanic Belfast, 2 Queen’s Quay, Belfast, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast (Dame Mary Peters), the First Minister of Northern Ireland, Mrs Arlene Foster (Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment), the Chairman of Titanic Belfast (Mr P. Doherty) and the Lord Mayor of Belfast City Council (Alderman Gavin Robinson).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, escorted respectively by the Chief Executive of Titanic Belfast (Mr T. Husbands) and Ms Judith Owen (Director of Operations and Deputy Chief Executive), toured the exhibitions featuring RMS Titanic.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were subsequently entertained to Luncheon by the First Minister of Northern Ireland.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Stormont Estate for a public celebration of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today commenced a visit to Northern Ireland in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this morning arrived at Enniskillen Airport and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Fermanagh (the Earl of Erne) and the Rt Hon Owen Paterson MP (Secretary of State for Northern Ireland).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove to St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen, and were received by the Dean of Clogher (the Very Reverend Kenneth Hall), the Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland (the Most Reverend Alan Harper), the Archbishop of Dublin (the Most Reverend Dr Michael Jackson) and the Bishop of Clogher (the Right Reverend John McDowell).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness attended a Service of Thanksgiving in the Cathedral and afterwards met families of the victims of the 1987 Enniskillen Bombing in the Deanery.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh subsequently walked to St Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, escorted by the Lord Anthony Hamilton (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of County Fermanagh), were received by Canon Peter O’Reilly (Parish Priest), the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland (His Eminence Cardinal Seán Brady) and the Roman Catholic Bishop of Clogher (the Most Reverend Dr Liam MacDaid), before meeting local community groups.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon visited South West Acute Hospital, 124 Irvinestown Road, Enniskillen, and were received by the Chairman of Western Health and Social Care (Mr Gerard Guckian) and Mrs Elaine Way (Chief Executive).

The Queen, escorted by the Chairman, toured the Children’s Ward, meeting patients, parents and nursing staff, before meeting hospital volunteers, staff and chaplains.

The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by the Chief Executive, visited the Gymnasium, the Medical Imaging Unit and the Cardiology/Respiratory Clinic.

The Prince of Wales this morning visited Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, Osprey Quay, Portland, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset (Mrs Anthony PittRivers).
