The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Manchester Victoria Railway Station this morning and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester (Mr. Warren Smith) and the Lord Mayor of Manchester (Councillor Harold Lyons).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Central Manchester University Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust, Hathersage Road, Manchester, and were received by the Chairman (Mr. Peter Mount) and Mr. Michael Deegan (Chief Executive).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh toured the Hospitals, escorted respectively by the Chairman and Mr. Anthony Leon (Deputy Chairman), meeting staff members, volunteers and patients, before Her Majesty officially opened the Hospitals.

The Queen afterwards visited MediaCityUK, the Quays, Salford, and was received by the Managing Director (Mr. Stephen Wild), the Lord Patten of Barnes (Chairman, BBC) and the Mayor of Salford (Councillor Eric Burgoyne).

Her Majesty toured the building, escorted by Mr. Mark Thompson (Director-General, BBC), viewing programme rehearsals and meeting presenters and production staff, before attending a short performance by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Salford Family Orchestra.

The Queen subsequently opened MediaCityUK.

The Duke of Edinburgh opened the University of Salford MediaCityUK at the Quays, Salford, and was received by Mr. Michael Oglesby (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester).

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, subsequently visited BBC Media City, the Quays, Salford, and opened BBC North.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained to Luncheon by the Lord Mayor of Manchester this afternoon in the Great Hall, Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square, and subsequently viewed the Jubilee Garden in Albert Square.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards visited Manchester Central, Petersfield, Manchester, and were received by the Chairman (Mr. John Early), Ms. Angela Robinson (Chief Executive) and Mayors of the Greater Manchester area.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Chairman and Chief Executive, viewed a performance of the “Manchester Anthem” by St. James’s School Choir and Seashell Trust Choir, before attending an Urban Garden Party and viewing music and dance performances.

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, subsequently opened Manchester Central.

The Prince of Wales, with The King of Sweden, this morning attended a Round Table Discussion at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, Sweden.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were entertained to Luncheon by The King and Queen of Sweden this afternoon at the Royal Palace.

His Royal Highness, with His Majesty, afterwards visited St. Erik’s District, Stockholm.

The Prince of Wales later attended a Round Table Discussion at the Residence of Her Majesty’s Ambassador and was received by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden (His Excellency Mr. Paul Johnston).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received upon arrival at the North Door by the Lord Great Chamberlain (the Marquess of Cholmondeley).

The Address from the House of Lords was read and presented to The Queen by the Lord Speaker (the Baroness D’Souza) and the Address from the House of Commons was read and presented by the Speaker (the Rt Hon. John Bercow MP), to which Addresses Her Majesty was pleased to reply.

The Princess Royal, this evening attended the Lord Provost’s Farewell Charity Banquet at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the Exchange, 150 Morrison Street, Edinburgh, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor George Grubb, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).
