Windsor Castle 

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by Princess Beatrice of York, this morning arrived at York Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire (the Lord Crathorne).

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses drove to Micklegate Bar and were received by the Lord Mayor of York (Councillor David Horton), who surrendered to The Queen the Sword of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by Princess Beatrice of York, afterwards drove to York Minster and were received at the Great West Door by the Archbishop of York (the Most Reverend Dr John Sentamu), the Dean (the Very Reverend Keith Jones) and the Chapter.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by Princess Beatrice of York, attended the Maundy Service at which Her Majesty distributed the Royal Maundy.

The Right Reverend Nigel McCulloch (Lord High Almoner) and the Reverend Prebendary William Scott (Sub-Almoner) were present.

The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses afterwards joined representatives of the Chapter, the Diocese and the Royal Almonry at a Reception in the Deanery.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by Princess Beatrice of York, were entertained to Luncheon by the Lord Mayor of York at the Mansion House, St Helens Square, York, this afternoon.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses afterwards visited the exhibition, 1212: the Making of the City, marking the Eight Hundredth Anniversary of York’s Charter of Self-Governance, at Yorkshire Museum, Museum Gardens, York, and were received by the Chair of York Museums Trust (Mrs Denise Jagger) and Mrs Janet Barnes (Chief Executive).

The Princess Royal, Patron, Youth Support Services, this afternoon visited a Volunteer Adult Training Scheme at Jackie Smith House, West Mercia Police Headquarters, Hindlip Hall, Worcester, and subsequently visited the Vocational Training Centre, 13-17 Carden Street, Worcester, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire (Mr Michael Brinton).

Her Royal Highness later presented Gloucestershire Media Apprenticeship Awards at Cheltenham Racecourse and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Dame Janet Trotter).

Her Majesty, escorted by the Lord-Lieutenant, and His Royal Highness, escorted by the Leader of Redbridge Borough Council (Councillor Keith Prince) and Councillor Roger Hampson (Chief Executive), walked through the Park and crossed the Ha-Ha Bridge.

The Queen, escorted by Sir Terence Conran (Redbridge Special Adviser on Art and Design) and Lady Conran, toured the Design Marquee and met artists and students.

The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by the Leader of Redbridge Borough Council, toured the Design Marquee.

Her Majesty visited Valentines Mansion and viewed contemporary British artworks and met local school pupils.

His Royal Highness viewed the Future Design Exhibition in the Kitchen Garden.

The Queen subsequently opened the new Dry Garden.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards visited Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, Walthamstow, London E17, and were received by Wing Commander Mike Dudgeon (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London) and the Mayor of Waltham Forest (Councillor Geoff Walker).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness attended a Reception for representatives of the London boroughs and were subsequently entertained to Luncheon by the North London Boroughs.
