Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, representing The Queen, accompanied by The Duchess of Gloucester, this morning attended the Mass of Beatification of Pope John Paul II in St Peter’s Square, Vatican City.

Their Royal Highnesses were received afterwards by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI in St Peter’s Basilica.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester this evening arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Italy.

Mrs Howard Page and Captain Mark Grayson were in attendance.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, President, the Royal Shakespeare Company, this evening attended a Gala Performance of Macbeth to celebrate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Company at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire (Mr Martin Dunne).

Kensington Palace

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for Italy and were received upon arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport by Mr George Edgar (Chargé d’Affaires at the British Embassy to the Holy See).

Their Royal Highnesses this evening attended a Dinner given by the Chargé d’Affaires at the British Embassy to the Holy See at the Residence in Rome.

Mrs Howard Page and Captain Mark Grayson are in attendance.

The Marriage of Prince William of Wales with Miss Catherine Middleton was solemnised in Westminster Abbey this morning.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, with other Members of the Royal Family, drove to Westminster Abbey and were received at the Great West Door of the Abbey by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster.

A procession was formed and Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses were conducted to their places.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of York, Princess Beatrice of York, Princess Eugenie of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, Mr and Mrs Peter Phillips, Miss Zara Phillips and Mr Michael Tindall, Viscount and Viscountess Linley, The Hon Charles Armstrong-Jones, The Lady Sarah and Mr Daniel Chatto, Master Samuel Chatto, Master Arthur Chatto, Earl and Countess of Ulster, The Lady Davina and Mr Gary Lewis, The Lady Rose and Mr George Gilman, Earl and Countess of St Andrews, Lord Downpatrick, The Lady Marina-Charlotte Windsor, The Lady Amelia Windsor, The Lord and Lady Nicholas Windsor, The Lady Helen and Mr Timothy Taylor, The Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, The Lady Gabriella Windsor, Mr and Mrs James Ogilvy, The Lady Saltoun and Members of Foreign Royal Families were present in the Abbey.

Prince William of Wales, with Prince Henry of Wales, drove to Westminster Abbey and was received at the Great West Door by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster.

Mr Michael Middleton and Miss Catherine Middleton drove to Westminster Abbey and were received at the Great West Door by the Dean and Chapter.

Miss Catherine Middleton was joined at the Abbey by Miss Philippa Middleton, The Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones, Miss Grace van Cutsem and Miss Eliza Lopes (Bridesmaids) and Master William Lowther-Pinkerton and Master Thomas Pettifer (Pages).

The Service was conducted by the Dean of Westminster and the Marriage was solemnised by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Lesson was read by Mr James Middleton.

The Address was given by the Bishop of London.

At the conclusion of the Service the Registers were signed at the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor.

The Bride and Bridegroom, with Prince Henry of Wales, the Bridesmaids and Pages, were conducted to their carriages and, escorted by a Captain’s Escort of the Household Cavalry, under the command of Major Nicholas van Cutsem (The Life Guards), drove to Buckingham Palace.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and Mr and Mrs Michael Middleton, proceeded to Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession, escorted by a Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Hughes (The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

The path from the Great West Door to the West Gate was lined by Twenty Four members of the Armed Forces.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms was on duty in the Lantern of Westminster Abbey.

The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard was on duty in the Nave of the Abbey.

The route of the procession was lined by detachments of the Armed Forces.

A Guard of Honour, found by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards under the command of Major David Bevan (Welsh Guards), with The Queen’s Colour and accompanied by the Band of the Regiment and the Corps of Drums of the Battalion, was mounted in the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace.

Silver Stick in Waiting (Colonel Stuart Cowen, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons) and the Field Officer in Brigade Waiting (Colonel Alastair Mathewson, formerly Scots Guards) were present.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards gave a Reception in honour of the Bride and Bridegroom.

The Bride and Bridegroom subsequently left the Palace for Clarence House, before returning to Buckingham Palace this evening for a Dance.

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia (the Hon Julia Gillard MP) was received by The Queen today.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, today visited Cambridge and were received this morning by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mr Hugh Duberley) and the Mayor of Cambridge (Councillor Sheila Stuart).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Sainsbury Laboratory, University of Cambridge, Bateman Street, Cambridge, and were received by Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz (Vice Chancellor) and Professor Elliot Meyerowitz (Director).

The Esquire Bedells and the Marshal surrendered to The Queen the University maces which Her Majesty was pleased to return to them.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Director and Professor Ottoline Leyser (Associate Director), toured the laboratories and viewed displays and met members of staff, students and benefactors.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended a Reception and Her Majesty unveiled a plaque to officially open the Sainsbury Laboratory.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards walked down St John’s Street to St John’s College and were received at Great Gate by the Master of St John’s College (Professor Christopher Dobson).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness listened to a performance by the College Chapel choir and The Queen unveiled a plaque to mark the Quincentenary of St John’s College.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were entertained to Luncheon by the Master this afternoon.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later attended a Garden Party and Her Majesty cut a cake to commemorate the Five Hundredth Anniversary of the College.

Clarence House

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, President, the Great Steward of Scotland’s Dumfries House Trust, this afternoon attended a Reception at Dumfries House, Cumnock, Ayrshire.

His Royal Highness, President, the Great Steward of Scotland’s Dumfries House Trust, this evening gave a Dinner at Dumfries House.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, this morning held a Meeting for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Oxford Playhouse, Beaumont Street, Oxford, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire (Mr Timothy Stevenson).

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, afterwards visited the Oxfordshire Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at County Hall, Oxford.

His Royal Highness subsequently visited Oxford Samaritans, 60 Magdalen Road, Oxford.

The Earl of Wessex later opened the new Pegasus Theatre, Magdalen Road, Oxford.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Past Master, the Worshipful Company of Carmen, this evening attended a Joint Services Dinner at Plaisterers’ Hall, 1 London Wall, London EC2.

Kensington Palace

The Duchess of Gloucester this evening attended a St George’s Day Concert in aid of the Royal British Legion at St George’s Church, Hanover Square, London W1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Grand Master, this afternoon attended the Annual Investiture of the United Grand Lodge of England at Freemasons’ Hall, Great Queen Street, London WC2, and this evening attended the Grand Festival Dinner at the Grand Connaught Rooms, 60 Great Queen Street, London WC2.

His Excellency the Hon. Michael Ogio was received in audience by The Queen today upon his appointment as Governor-General of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand (the Hon. John Key MP) was received by The Queen.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand and Mrs. Key remained to Luncheon with Her Majesty.

Prince Henry of Wales, Patron, Walking with the Wounded Expedition, this afternoon attended a Reception at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, 195 Piccadilly, London W1.

Princess Alexandra, Patron, Action for Blind People, this afternoon received Mr. Michael Dudgeon at Buckingham Palace upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and Dr. Michael Nussbaum upon assuming the appointment.

The Duke of Kent has been pleased to appoint Mr. Nicholas Marden as Private Secretary to His Royal Highness upon the retirement of Mr. Nicolas Adamson.
