Today is the Eighty Fifth Anniversary of the Birthday of Her Majesty.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended the Maundy Service in Westminster Abbey at which Her Majesty distributed the Royal Maundy.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received by the Dean of Westminster (the Very Reverend Dr John Hall).

The Right Reverend Nigel McCulloch (Lord High Almoner) and the Reverend Prebendary William Scott (Sub-Almoner) were present.

The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeoman of the Guard were on duty.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards joined representatives of the Chapter and the Royal Almonry at a Reception in the Deanery.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, President, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, this morning presented Carers’ Training Awards certificates at Cameron House Hotel, Loch Lomond, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire (Rear Admiral Michael Gregory).

Mr John Marshall was received in audience by The Queen today and kissed hands upon his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Senegal.

Mrs Marie Glanfield was also received by Her Majesty.

The following were received in audience by The Queen upon their appointment as British High Commissioners: Mr Simon Featherstone (Malaysia), Mr John Rankin (the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka) and Mr Arthur Snell (Republic of Trinidad and Tobago).

Mrs Featherstone, Mrs Rankin and Dr Charlotte Bigland were also received by Her Majesty.

The Princess Royal this morning visited Kentigern House to mark its Twenty Fifth Anniversary, 65 Brown Street, Glasgow, and was received by Colonel Kenneth Neil (Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow).

Her Royal Highness afterwards opened Royal National Institute for Blind People, Scotland, Centre for Sensory Impaired People at 17 Gullane Street, Partick, Glasgow.

The Princess Royal this afternoon attended Glasgow Science Centre’s Tenth Anniversary Reception, 50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow.

Her Royal Highness, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, later visited Gareloch Riding for the Disabled Association Group, Colgrain Equestrian Centre, Cardross, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire (Rear Admiral Michael Gregory).

The Princess Royal afterwards opened a new stand at Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Football Club at Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire.

Her Royal Highness, President, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, this evening attended a fundraising dinner at Cameron House Hotel, Loch Lomond, Dunbartonshire.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened the new carriage building at Roberts Limbrick Architects, Bruton Way, Gloucester, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Dame Janet Trotter).

His Royal Highness, Patron, this afternoon opened the Imjin Sixty Exhibition and Back Badge Square at the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, Gloucester Docks, Gloucester.

Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a reception at Windsor Castle for those who attended the Service.
