The Coronation of The King and Queen took place in Westminster Abbey today.

Their Majesties left Buckingham Palace at 10.20 o’clock this morning and proceeded in State to the Abbey, escorted by a Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry, with Standard, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Armitage (The Life Guards).

The Archbishop of Canterbury conducted the Service.

The King and Queen returned to the Palace at 1.08 o’clock.

Combined Guards of Honour of the three Services were mounted outside the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace.

Their Majesties this afternoon, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force.

Members of Foreign Royal Families, Heads of State and Representatives from the Commonwealth were received and welcomed to the United Kingdom today on behalf of The King.
