COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

General Sir Nicholas Houghton (Chief of the Defence Staff) was received by The Queen today.

His Excellency Sir Arthur Foulkes was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Governor-General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

Lady Foulkes was also received by The Queen.

Her Majesty, Sovereign Head, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, received Professor Anthony Mellows upon relinquishing his appointment as Lord Prior.

The Hon Alexander Downer was received in audience by The Queen upon his appointment as High Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Australia in London.

Mrs Downer was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen gave an Afternoon Party for the “Not Forgotten” Association in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of York was present.

The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard was on duty.

The Band of the Scots Guards played selections of music during the afternoon.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Teaching Institute, this morning held a Meeting at Clarence House.

His Royal Highness afterwards received Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad (Chief Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs to The King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Personal Envoy).

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Step Up To Serve, today received General Sir Nicholas Parker (Chairman) and Miss Charlotte Hill (Chief Executive).

His Royal Highness this afternoon received the Very Reverend John Hall (Dean of Westminster), Sir Stephen Lamport (Receiver General of Westminster Abbey) and Mr Ptolemy Dean (Surveyor of the Fabric, Westminster Abbey).

The Prince of Wales later held a Reception at Clarence House for those involved in biomimetic innovation.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Combat Stress, this evening gave a Reception at St James’s Palace.

Kensington Palace

Prince Henry of Wales this morning visited a community project in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Ayrton Senna Institute, Rua Doutor Fernandes Coelho, Sao Paulo.

Prince Henry of Wales this evening departed Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport for Chile and was received later upon arrival at Santiago A Merino Benitez Airport, Santiago, by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Chile (Her Excellency Ms. Fiona Clouder).

The Duke of York this evening attended the Financial Times Summer Party at the Banking Hall, 14 Cornhill, London EC3.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, President, Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, today attended the Royal Norfolk Show at the Norfolk Showground and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk (Mr Richard Jewson).

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, this evening held a Dinner at Frogmore House, Windsor, in celebration of the Thirtieth Anniversary of Tomorrow’s People.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Commodore-in-Chief, Portsmouth, this afternoon visited Waterfront and Naval Base Personnel at HM Naval Base Portsmouth and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, National Museum of the Royal Navy, afterwards opened the Babcock Galleries’ “HMS – Hear My Story” Exhibition at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, HM Naval Base, Portsmouth.

The Princess Royal, Patron, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended a Reception at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, followed by a Dinner onboard HMS VICTORY, HM Naval Base, Portsmouth.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, President, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, this afternoon attended a Reception at Lancaster House, St. James’s, London SW1, to Commemorate Overseas Victoria Cross Recipients from the First World War.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Patron, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, this afternoon received Mr. Anthony Aston at Buckingham Palace upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and Mr. John Stewart upon assuming the appointment.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, English National Opera, afterwards received Mr. Martyn Rose upon assuming his appointment as Chairman. Mr. John Berry (Artistic Director) was present.

Princess Alexandra, Royal Patron, this evening visited Masterpiece London at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London SW3.
