Windsor Castle

Dr Angela Merkel (Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany) was received by The Queen this afternoon.

Her Majesty held a Council via video link at 4.45 pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Jacob Rees-Mogg MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Robert Buckland MP (Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice), the Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (Leader of the House of Lords and Lord Privy Seal), the Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP (Secretary of State for Transport) and the Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP.

The Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP made affirmation as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, kissed hands upon his appointment and received the Seals of Office.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

Kensington Palace

The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and the Lawn Tennis Association, today attended the Wimbledon Championships at Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19.

St James’s Palace

The Princess Royal this morning visited Antrim Castle Gardens, Randalstown Road, Antrim, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim (Mr David McCorkell).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Reception at Hillsborough Castle for representatives from the Counties of Northern Ireland and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Down (Mr David Lindsay).

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, President, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, this afternoon attended the Wimbledon Championships at Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19.
