Buckingham Palace

Her Majesty was present at The Queen’s Birthday Parade on Horse Guards Parade this morning at which The Queen’s Colour of 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards was Trooped.

The Queen was accompanied by The Duke of Kent (Colonel, Scots Guards), The Prince of Wales (Colonel, Welsh Guards), The Duke of York (Colonel, Grenadier Guards), The Duke of Cambridge (Colonel, Irish Guards) and The Princess Royal (Gold Stick in Waiting and Colonel, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

Her Majesty was attended by Major General Sir Edward Smyth-Osbourne (Colonel, The Life Guards), Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall (Colonel, Coldstream Guards) and Major General Benjamin Bathurst (Major General Commanding Household Division).

The Lord de Mauley (Master of the Horse), Colonel Toby Browne, Major Nana Twumasi-Ankrah (Mounted Equerries in Waiting), Captain Jocelyn Bucknall (Coldstream Guards, Dismounted Equerry in Waiting) and Colonel Crispin Lockhart (Silver Stick in Waiting) were in attendance.

Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Griffin (Silver Stick Adjutant) and the Household Division Staff were present.

The Procession was led by Lieutenant Colonel Guy Stone, Welsh Guards (Brigade Major Household Division).

The troops on Parade, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Piers Ashfield, Grenadier Guards (Field Officer in Brigade Waiting), received The Queen with a Royal Salute.

The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Princess Beatrice of York, Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank and Mr Jack Brooksbank, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, accompanied by the Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and Viscount Severn, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and other Members of the Royal Family drove to Horse Guards Parade and witnessed The Queen’s Birthday Parade.

On the conclusion of the Parade, Her Majesty drove in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of The Queen’s Guard, preceded by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major Harry Wallace, the Massed Mounted Bands of the Household Cavalry, the Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry, under the command of Major Thomas Seccombe (The Life Guards), and the Massed Bands of the Guards Division.

On arrival at Buckingham Palace, The Queen’s Guard entered the Forecourt and formed up opposite the Old Guard.

Her Majesty, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force, led by Squadron Leader Daniel Shaw, Royal Air Force, to mark the official celebration of The Queen’s Birthday.

Royal Salutes were fired today by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Green Park and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Major Edward Shanklyn.

Mr Bruce Houlder (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London) was present at Heathrow Airport, London, this morning upon the Arrival of the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and welcomed Her Excellency on behalf of The Queen.

Admiral Sir Philip Jones was received by The Queen today upon relinquishing his appointment as First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff.

Field Marshal the Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Colonel of The Life Guards and Gold Stick in Waiting when The Queen invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

Major General Sir Edward Smyth-Osbourne was received by Her Majesty upon his appointment as Colonel of The Life Guards and Gold Stick in Waiting.

The Duke of York was represented by Lady Mary Fagan LG.

The Princess Royal was represented by Mrs Andrew Feilden.

The Duke of Kent was represented by Dame Sarah Goad.

The Queen was represented by Mrs Michael Gordon Lennox (Lady in Waiting) at the Funeral of Mr Timothy Gibbs which was held in the Church of St John the Baptist, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, this afternoon.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon attended a Commemorative Service at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery in Bayeux, where The Prince of Wales laid a wreath at the Cross of Sacrifice, and afterwards attended a Reception for veterans and their families.

The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, and The President of the United States of America and Mrs Trump today attended the National Commemorative Event at Southsea Common, Portsmouth, for the Seventy Fifth Anniversary of the D-Day Landings and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr Nigel Atkinson), the Rt Hon Theresa May MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) and the Chief of the Defence Staff and Aide-de-Camp General (General Sir Nicholas Carter).

The Mayor of Portsmouth (Councillor David Fuller) surrendered to Her Majesty the Keys of the City of Portsmouth, which The Queen returned to him.

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, and The President and Mrs Trump met Heads of State, Heads of Government and Representatives.

The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, and The President of the United States of America and Mrs Trump viewed the National Commemorative Event telling the story of D-Day through musical performance, testimonial readings and Armed Forces displays.

Her Majesty addressed those present and afterwards witnessed a flypast by modern and period aircraft.

The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, and The President of the United States of America and Mrs Trump met Veterans of D-Day and were received by the National President of the Royal British Legion (Lieutenant General James Bashall).

The Queen bade farewell to The President of the United States of America and Mrs Trump.

The President and Mrs Trump attended a Reception given by The Prince of Wales for Heads of State, Heads of Government and Representatives.

The President of the United States of America and Mrs Trump subsequently joined The Prince of Wales at a Reception for Veterans of D-Day and their families.

The President afterwards attended a Luncheon with Heads of State, Heads of Government and Representatives.

The Earl Peel (Lord Chamberlain) was present at Southampton Airport this afternoon upon the Departure of The President of the United States of America and Mrs Trump and bade farewell to The President and Mrs Trump on behalf of The Queen upon the conclusion to the State Visit to Her Majesty.

The President of the United States of America and Mrs Trump today commenced a State Visit in London to The Queen.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall welcomed The President and Mrs Trump on behalf of Her Majesty in the Garden of Buckingham Palace.
