Buckingham Palace

The President of the Republic of Singapore and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam, with the Singaporean Suite in attendance, took leave of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning and left Buckingham Palace.

The President and Mrs Tan this afternoon visited M Shed, Princes Wharf, Bristol, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol (Mrs John Prior).

The President of the Republic of Singapore and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam, escorted by Ms Vivienne Bennett (Interim Head of Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives) toured the Bristol PlacesExhibition, learning more about the regeneration of the harbour area of the City.

The President and Mrs Tan were subsequently entertained to Luncheon by the Mayor of the City of Bristol (Mr George Ferguson).

The President of the Republic of Singapore and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam later visited the University of Bristol, Queen’s Road, Clifton, Bristol, and were received by Professor Sir Eric Thomas (Vice-Chancellor).

The President and Mrs Tan moved to the Great Hall and His Excellency launched the Sensor Platform for Healthcare in a Residential Environment eHealth Hackathon.

A Memorandum of Understanding for Healthcare Technology Research Collaboration was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bristol and Professor Bertil Andersson (President of Nanyang Technical University Singapore) and witnessed by The President of the Republic of Singapore.

The President and Mrs Tan subsequently viewed demonstrations on cutting-edge research in the field of personal healthcare technology, before meeting Singaporean staff and students.

The President of the Republic of Singapore and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam afterwards visited Aardman Animations, Gas Ferry Road, Bristol, and were received by the Co-Founders (Mr David Sproxton and Mr Peter Lord) and Sir Martin Davidson (Chief Executive, British Council).

The President and Mrs Tan received a briefing on the Singapore English Language Learning Centres run by the British Council in collaboration with Aardman Animations by Ms Anna Searle (Director of English Language, British Council) and toured the building viewing the Company’s work.

The President of Ghana and Mrs Mahama today visited The Queen.

Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Matheson of Matheson, yr. was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Secretary, Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, today attended Receptions at St James’s Palace for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed The President and Mrs. Tony Tan Keng Yam on behalf of The Queen at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington High Street, London W8.

The President of the Republic of Singapore and Mrs. Tony Tan Keng Yam, accompanied by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, drove to Horse Guards and were met by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The President of the Republic of Singapore and Mrs. Tony Tan Keng Yam, accompanied by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, drove in a Carriage Procession to Buckingham Palace with a Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry.

Gun Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, and at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company.

Guards of Honour were provided at Horse Guards by 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards and at Buckingham Palace by Nijmegen Company, Grenadier Guards.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and a Detachment of Household Cavalry were on duty.

The Queen presented The President of the Republic of Singapore with the Insignia of an Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.

The President and Mrs. Tony Tan Keng Yam this afternoon drove to Westminster Abbey where His Excellency laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

The Constable and Governor surrendered to The Queen the keys of Her Majesty’s Tower of London, which The Queen returned to them.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness moved through the Poppies in the Moat marking the Centenary of the First World War and The Queen laid a wreath.

Afterwards Her Majesty and His Royal Highness attended a Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration for the restoration of the Chapel Royal of Saint Peter ad Vincula, within Her Majesty’s Tower of London, and were received by Lieutenant General Peter Pearson (Lieutenant of Her Majesty’s Tower of London), the Reverend Canon Roger Hall (Chaplain) and the Bishop of London.
