The Rt Hon William Hague MP (Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was received in audience by The Queen today.

The Sultan of Oman visited The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon and remained to Luncheon.

The following were invited: Air Vice Marshal Sir Erik Bennett (Adviser to The Sultan) and the Rt Hon William Hague MP and Mrs Hague.

Her Majesty later gave a Reception for the winners of the “Cook for The Queen” Competition at which The Duchess of Cornwall was present.

The Queen afterwards received The Duke of Cambridge when Her Majesty invested His Royal Highness with the Insignia of a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel, Grenadier Guards, this evening presided over a Conference at Buckingham Palace attended by the Colonels of the Regiments of the Household Division and subsequently entertained the Colonels to Dinner.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Sir John Parsons (formerly Deputy Keeper of the Privy Purse and Deputy Treasurer to The Queen) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mr Adrian Pelly (formerly Land Steward, Windsor Castle) which was held at All Saints Church, East Meon, Hampshire, this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales was represented by Mr Ashe Windham.

The Duke of York was represented by Captain Robert Guy RN.

The Queen today continued the visit to the East Midlands to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and was received at Hitchin Railway Station by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire (the Countess of Verulam).

Her Majesty drove to Hitchin Market Square and, escorted by Sir Simon Bowes Lyon (formerly Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire), met local shopkeepers.

The Queen afterwards officially opened the new Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit at Lister Hospital, Coreys Mill Lane, Stevenage, and was received Mr Richard Beazley (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire), the Chairman of East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust (Mr Ian Morfett) and the Mayor of Stevenage Borough Council (Councillor John Lloyd).

Her Majesty, escorted by Ms Angela Thompson (Director of Nursing, East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust) and Ms Christine Bell (Head of Midwifery, Lister Hospital), toured the midwife-led Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit, viewing birthing rooms and meeting midwives, consultants and hospital staff, and mothers and Jubilee babies.

The Queen later visited Hatfield Park, Great North Road, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and, having been received by the Marquess of Salisbury and the Mayor of Hatfield Town (Councillor Ms Caron Juggins), planted a tree in Jubilee Copse and officially dedicated the Copse.

Her Majesty was entertained to Luncheon this afternoon by the Marquess of Salisbury at Hatfield House.

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, this morning held a Meeting at Clarence House.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership, this afternoon attended the Annual Re-union at the Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1.

The Queen, with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today commenced a visit to the East Midlands to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and was received upon arrival this morning at Nottingham Railway Station by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire (Sir Andrew Buchanan, Bt).

Her Majesty, with Their Royal Highnesses, drove to Old Market Square and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire (Mr William Tucker) and the Lord Mayor of Nottingham (Councillor Leon Unczur).

The Queen, with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, walked across Old Market Square to the Council House and was received by the Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council (Councillor Mrs Carol Pepper) and the Chairman of Derbyshire County Council (Councillor George Wharmby).

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses appeared on the Balcony and attended a Reception given by Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire for representatives from the local communities.

The Queen, Patron, National Playing Fields Association (operating as Fields in Trust), with The Duke of Cambridge, Patron, The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge (Fields in Trust), and The Duchess of Cambridge, afterwards attended a Fields in Trust Jubilee outdoor activities event at Vernon Park, Vernon Avenue, Basford, Nottingham, to mark the Park’s new status as a Queen Elizabeth II Field, and was received by the Chairman of Fields in Trust (the Lord Howard of Rising).

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses, escorted by the Chief Executive of Fields in Trust (Mrs Alison Moore-Gwyn) and the Director of The Queen Elizabeth II Challenge (Fields in Trust) (Miss Helen Griffiths), listened to a Jubilee song performance.

The Duke of Cambridge fired the starting gun at a running race, and subsequently remained at Vernon Park with The Duchess of Cambridge.

The Queen later attended the Diamond Jubilee Picnic to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee at Burghley House, Stamford, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mr Hugh Duberly) and the Chatelaine (Mrs Miranda Rock).

Her Majesty visited County Tents in the Park and, having been received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenants of Lincolnshire (Mr Anthony Worth), of Rutland (Dr Laurence Howard) and of Northamptonshire (the Lady Juliet Townshend), and the Mayor of Stamford (Councillor Robert Sandall), met representatives from each of the counties.

The Queen was entertained to Luncheon by the Chatelaine and by Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.

Her Majesty subsequently watched a fly-past by the Red Arrows.

The Queen this afternoon visited Corby East Midlands International Swimming Pool, Parkland Gateway, George Street, Corby, and was received by Sir John Robinson (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire) and the Mayor of Corby Borough (Mr Mohammed Rahman).

Her Majesty viewed high diving and aquatics displays.

The Queen afterwards visited the Corby Cube, George Street, Corby, and was received by the Leader of Corby Borough Council (Mr Tom Beattie).

Her Majesty viewed a display of Corby’s regeneration and Jubilee celebrations and a music, theatre and dance performance, and met representatives from the local community.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the House Mill, Three Mill Lane, Bromley-by-Bow, London E3.

Their Royal Highnesses afterwards visited the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games’s Costume Workshop at Three Mills Studios, Three Mill Lane.

The Prince of Wales, Patron, the Waterways Trust, and The Duchess of Cornwall later officially launched the Water Chariots Canal Boats Service at Three Islands, Bromley-by-Bow, London E3, and were received by Colonel Michael Dudding (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Their Royal Highnesses today visited the Velodrome at the Olympic Park, Stratford, London E20.

Her Majesty afterwards unveiled the Canadian Diamond Jubilee Portrait at Buckingham Palace.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand (the Rt Hon John Key MP) was received by The Queen.

Her Majesty was entertained to Luncheon at Marlborough House this afternoon by His Excellency the Rt Hon Kamalesh Sharma (Commonwealth Secretary-General).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Northern Lighthouse Board, later visited Auskerry Lighthouse, Auskerry, off the Island of Stronsay, north east of Kirkwall.

The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, this morning invested the Governor-General designate of Papua New Guinea (His Excellency Sir Michael Ogio) as a Knight of Justice of the Most Venerable Order.
