The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this morning presented new Colours to the 1st Battalion and No. 7 Company Coldstream Guards in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle.

Having been received upon arrival by the Colonel of the Regiment (Lieutenant Colonel James Bucknall), Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received on Parade with a Royal Salute.

The Queen then inspected the Parade.

After the presentation of new Colours, Her Majesty was graciously pleased to address the Regiment and the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel (Brigadier Greville Bibby) replied.

The Parade subsequently Marched Past The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today continued the visit to the South West to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and were received this morning upon arrival at Yeovil Penn Mill Railway Station by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset (Lady Gass).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Ninesprings Country Park, Yeovil, and were received by the Chief Constable (Mr Colin Port) and the Mayor of Yeovil (Councillor Clive Davis).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh toured the Diamond Jubilee Country Fayre viewing displays about local history, wildlife and craftsmen, and the Jubilee Art Competition.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards visited the Town Hall, Market Square, Crewkerne, were received by the Mayor of Crewkerne (Councillor Neil Sturtivant) and viewed displays of significant historical items and documents, and local produce and products.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later arrived at Princesshay Square, Exeter, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon (Mr Eric Dancer) and the Lord Mayor of Exeter (Councillor Stella Brock), who surrendered to Her Majesty the Sword of the City, which The Queen returned to her.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness viewed a short musical performance by Exeter College and met local residents, before walking through the Square.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards drove to Exeter University Piazza and walked along the street, meeting groups of people from Cornwall, escorted respectively by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall (Colonel Edward Bolitho) and Mr Michael Galsworthy (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall), and groups of people from Devon, escorted respectively by Mr Anthony Mildmay White (Deputy Lieutenant of Devon) and Sir John Cave, Bt (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Devon).

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, subsequently officially opened the Forum Centre on Streatham Campus for Exeter University.

Her Majesty visited a Food Fair and met former Lord-Lieutenants of Dorset and winners of the Jubilee People’s Millions and His Royal Highness viewed an exhibition of work by local artisans.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today continued the visit to South Wales to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and were received upon arrival at Ynysowen Community Primary School, Aberfan Road, Aberfan, by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan (Mrs Kathrin Thomas), the Chair of Governors (Mrs Rosa Lazel) and Mrs. Simone Roden (Head Teacher).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness watched a musical presentation in Welsh and afterwards met staff and wives who were affected by the mine landslide disaster of 1966, survivors of the disaster and parents who lost children in the landslide.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were subsequently received by the Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil (Councillor Paul Brown) and Her Majesty officially opened the School.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later visited the Works, Steelworks Road¸ Ebbw Vale, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gwent (Mr Simon Boyle) and the Mayor of Blaenau Gwent (Councillor Michael Bartlett).

Her Majesty visited the Steel Works Museum and met former steel workers and museum volunteers whilst His Royal Highness visited the new Archives facility.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, subsequently officially opened the General Office and Archives.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove slowly through the town centre to Christ Church, the Rectory, Eureka Place, and were received by the Rector of Ebbw Vale (the Reverend Geoffrey Waggett.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended a Thanksgiving Service in Christ Church for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and afterwards attended a Reception with community groups.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon visited “Diamonds in the Park”, a festival of rural activities and sports to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, in Glanusk Park, Crickhowell, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Powys (the Hon Mrs Legge-Bourke).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh viewed the stands showcasing local activities and Her Majesty subsequently planted a commemorative tree.
