The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Jean, Countess of Carnarvon at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mrs Gerard Leigh which was held in the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Kintbury, Berkshire, today.

The Duchess of Cornwall, also representing The Prince of Wales, attended the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mrs Gerard Leigh which was held in the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Kintbury, Berkshire, today.

Buckingham Palace 

The Earl of Wessex, President, Creative Youth, this evening attended a Gala Dinner at the Richmond Hill Hotel, Richmond Hill, Richmond upon Thames, Surrey, and was received by Sir Kenneth Knight (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Buckingham Palace 

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee, and accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning arrived at Johannesburg Airport and was received by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa (Her Excellency Dame Nicola Brewer).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, subsequently visited Tembisa Hospital, Gauteng.

The Princess Royal, Commandant-in-Chief (Youth), St John Ambulance, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence later visited St John Eye Hospital, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

Her Royal Highness, President, Save the Children UK, this afternoon visited Cotlands Turffontein Resource Centre, 134 Stanton Street, Turffontein, Johannesburg.

The Princess Royal, President, World Horse Welfare, and President, Riding for the Disabled Association, afterwards visited Soweto Equestrian Foundation, Lefatola and Gumede Street, Moroka, Soweto, Johannesburg.

Her Royal Highness, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended a Reception given by the British High Commissioner to commemorate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at the Residence in Pretoria.

The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, later attended a Dinner given by the British High Commissioner to South Africa at Brasserie de Paris, 381 Aries Street, Pretoria.

Kensington Palace 

The Duke of Gloucester this morning attended the inauguration of the Memorial to Private Charles McCorrie VC at the Msida Bastion Historic Garden, Msida Bastion, Valletta, Malta.

His Royal Highness subsequently visited Inspire, the Foundation for Inclusion at the Therapy and Leisure Centre, Zinzell Street, Marsaskala, and afterwards visited Inspire Education and Employment Centre, Bulubel, Zejtun.

The Duke of Gloucester this evening arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Malta.

Mr Alistair Wood was in attendance.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening departed Heathrow Airport, London, for South Africa.

Mrs David Bowes-Lyon and Captain Nicholas Wright RN are in attendance.

Kensington Palace 

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited the Malta at War Museum and Air Raid Shelters at Couvre Porte Gate, Vittoriosa, Malta.

His Royal Highness afterwards toured Vittoriosa and the Grand Harbour, Valletta.

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon attended a Tea for representatives of British and Maltese society given by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Malta (Her Excellency Ms Louise Stanton) at the Residence.

His Royal Highness, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, later attended Mass in St John’s Co-Cathedral, St John’s Street, Valletta.

The Duke of Gloucester this evening watched a Son et Lumière and re-enactment of the presentation of the George Cross to the Island of Malta in Palace Square, Valletta.

His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Reception given by The President of the Republic of Malta at the Palace, Valletta.

The Duke of Gloucester subsequently attended a Dinner at the Xara Palace, Misrah il-Kunsill, Mdina.

The Duke of Edinburgh, formerly Colonel-in-Chief, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment, was represented by Major General Derek Crabtree (former Colonel Commandant, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Lieutenant Colonel George Woolnough (former Commanding Officer, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment) which was held in Salisbury Cathedral this morning.

Buckingham Palace 

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, this evening attended the Transform Housing and Support Concert in Guildford Cathedral and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey (Dame Sarah Goad).

Kensington Palace 

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited the National War Museum at Fort St Elmo, Valletta, Malta.

His Royal Highness afterwards visited Our Lady of Victory Church, South Street, Valletta.

The Duke of Gloucester later attended a George Cross Island Association Service and laid a wreath at the Siege Bell, Quarry Wharf, Valletta.

His Royal Highness subsequently attended a Reception to commemorate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, at Lower Barrakka Gardens, Grand Harbour, Valletta, and planted a commemorative tree.

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon attended a Luncheon given by The President of the Republic of Malta at Verdala Palace, Buskett Road, Siggiewi.

His Royal Highness, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, this evening visited the Council of St John at 5 Independence Square, Valletta, and subsequently visited St John volunteers at St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral.

The Duke of Gloucester afterwards laid a wreath at the newly restored War Memorial at the War Memorial Roundabout, Floriana.

His Royal Highness subsequently attended a Reception given by the Hon Dr Lawrence Gonzi MP (Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta) at the Auberge de Castille, Valletta.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for Malta to commemorate the Seventieth Anniversary of the Award of the George Cross to the Island and was received upon arrival at Malta International Airport by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Malta (Her Excellency Ms. Louise Stanton).

His Royal Highness this afternoon called upon The President of the Republic of Malta at the Palace, Valletta.

The Duke of Gloucester later called upon the Hon. Dr. Lawrence Gonzi MP (Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta) at the Auberge de Castille, Valletta.

His Royal Highness this evening opened “Thresholds”, an exhibition of British Contemporary Art, to commemorate the Seventy Fifth Anniversary of the British Council’s presence in Malta, at St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Castille Square, Valletta.

The Duke of Kent, Field Marshal, this morning took the salute at The Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Camberley, Surrey.

The Queen, Patron, the Royal Life Saving Society, today received Mr John Long (former Commonwealth Secretary) when Her Majesty presented him with the King Edward VII Cup.

Mr John Barwick (Deputy Commonwealth President) was present.

The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr Christopher Holtby (the Republic of Estonia), Mr Dominick Chilcott (Ireland) and Dr Amanda Tanfield (the State of Eritrea).

Mrs Holtby, Mrs Chilcott and Mr Matthew Connolly were also received by Her Majesty.

Mr George Fergusson was received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon his appointment as Governor of Bermuda.

Mrs Fergusson was also received by Her Majesty.

Buckingham Palace 

The Earl of Wessex, Chairman, The Prince Philip Trust Fund for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, this evening chaired the Trustees’ Meeting, followed by Dinner, at Cumberland Lodge, the Great Park, Windsor Castle, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (the Hon Mrs Bayliss).

The Queen held a Council at 12.40 pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Theresa May MP (Secretary of State for the Home Department and Minister for Women and Equalities), the Lord Strathclyde (Leader of the House of Lords and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster) and the Rt Hon Sir George Young (Leader of the House of Commons and Lord Privy Seal).

Mrs Ceri King was in attendance as Deputy Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

The Queen was represented by Major General Martin White (Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight) at the Memorial Service for the Lord Mottistone (formerly Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight) which was held in Newport Minster, Isle of Wight, this afternoon.

The Duke of Edinburgh was represented by Lieutenant Colonel Sir Guy Acland, Bt.

The Duke of York was represented by Mr Alastair Watson.

The Princess Royal was represented by Captain Nicholas Wright RN.

Buckingham Palace 

The Earl of Wessex this afternoon opened the new Outpatient facilities at Oak Road Patient Treatment Centre, the Christie Hospital, Oak Road, Withington, and was received by Mr Michael Oglesby (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester).

His Royal Highness, Patron, Royal Exchange Theatre Company, this evening attended a Dinner and performance of Wonderful Town at the Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester.
