The Rt. Hon. Edward Miliband MP (Leader of the Opposition) called upon The President of the Republic of Turkey at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül, with the Turkish Suite in attendance, afterwards left Buckingham Palace upon the conclusion of the State Visit to The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The President and Mrs. Gül later visited the Royal Naval Cemetery, Haslar, Gosport, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan), Surgeon Captain Neil Butterfield RN (Medical Officer in Charge, Institute of Naval Medicine, Alverstoke) and the Mayor of Gosport (Councillor Christopher Carter).

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül, escorted by Imam Asim Hafiz (Muslim Chaplain to the British Armed Forces), moved through to the Memorial in the Turkish Naval Cemetery where His Excellency laid a wreath and subsequently toured the Cemetery.

The President and Mrs. Gül this afternoon visited Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth and were received by Vice Admiral Charles Montgomery (Second Sea Lord) and Commodore Anthony Radakin RN (Naval Base Commander Portsmouth).

His Excellency toured HMS DAUNTLESS (Captain William Warrender RN) whilst Mrs. Gül toured the Victory Museum.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül were subsequently entertained to Luncheon by the Second Sea Lord onboard HMS VICTORY (Lieutenant Commander Oscar Whild RN).

The President and Mrs. Gül later visited Stansted Park, Rowlands Castle, Hampshire, and were received by the Chairman of Trustees, Stansted Park Foundation (the Earl of Bessborough).

His Excellency and Mrs. Gül toured the House and remained to Tea with the Chairman.

His Excellency Mr. Gordon Campbell was received in audience by The Queen today upon his appointment as High Commissioner for Canada in London.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül today commenced a State Visit in London to The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Prince of Wales welcomed The President and Mrs. Gül on behalf of Her Majesty at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Hyde Park, London, 66 Knightsbridge, London SW1.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, drove to Horse Guards and were met by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül, accompanied by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh with The Prince of Wales, drove in a Carriage Procession to Buckingham Palace with a Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry.

Gun Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, and at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Horse Guards by 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards and at Buckingham Palace by F Company Scots Guards.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and a Detachment of Household Cavalry were on duty.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül later drove to Westminster Abbey where His Excellency laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

The President afterwards visited No. 10 Downing Street where His Excellency had talks with the Prime Minister.

Mrs. Gül visited the Royal Collection.
