Hon. the Lord Provost), Ms. Tricia Marwick MSP (Presiding Officer of the Parliament) and the Rt. Hon. Alex Salmond MSP (First Minister of the Scottish Executive).

The Presiding Officer welcomed The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh and Her Majesty was graciously pleased to address the Scottish Parliament.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and were received by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).

Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor George Grubb, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.

A Guard of Honour found by The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (B Company 5 SCOTS), under the command of Major William Horridge, was mounted in the Forecourt.

The Duke of Edinburgh, at Buckingham Palace, this morning received Addresses of Congratulation on his Ninetieth Birthday from the House of Lords and the House of Commons, to which His Royal Highness was graciously pleased to make reply.
