The Queen was represented by The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay and The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning when Their Royal Highnesses and Admiral Laurence attended a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral for the Installation of Lady Elish Angiolini as a Lady of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle and Sir George Reid as a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay and The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, were received at St Giles’ Cathedral by the Chancellor of the Thistle (the Earl of Airlie) and the Minister of St Giles’ (the Reverend Calum MacLeod).

A Guard of Honour was mounted in Parliament Square West by The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, with the Colours of the Royal Company, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Stewart, and accompanied by the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Queen gave a Lunch Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for the Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

The Queen, accompanied by The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, this afternoon received The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, in the garden who presented the Reddendo to Her Majesty which The Queen was graciously pleased to accept.

Her Majesty later left the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The Queen this morning attended an Armed Forces Act of Loyalty Parade in the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

A Tri-Service Guard of Honour under the command of Major Robert Weir, Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, with the Band of the Royal Marines Scotland, the Pipes and Drums of The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, and Cadets from the three Services were on Parade.

The Queen was received with a Royal Salute.

Brigadier Andrew Muddiman RM (Naval Regional Commander Scotland and Northern Ireland), Major General William Wright (General Officer Scotland) and Air Vice-Marshal Ross Paterson (Air Officer Scotland) were presented to Her Majesty by Lord Lyon King of Arms (Dr Joseph Morrow).

Subsequently, the Governor of Edinburgh Castle (Major General Alastair Bruce of Crionaich), assisted by three Service Cadets, surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the Castle which Her Majesty returned to him.

Mr John Wallace was received by The Queen today when Her Majesty presented him with The Queen’s Medal for Music.

Ms Judith Weir (Master of The Queen’s Music) was present.

Sir George Reid was received by The Queen this afternoon when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

The Queen, accompanied by The Earl and Countess of Wessex and Forfar, arrived at Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station this morning.

Her Majesty, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses, drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and was received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.

A Guard of Honour found by Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Major Robert Weir, was mounted in the Forecourt.

Afterwards The Queen was received inside the Palace by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).
