Buckingham Palace

The Rt Hon Boris Johnson (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this morning.

Her Majesty later visited the Royal British Legion Industries Extra Care Facility, Appleton Lodge, 14 Milner Road, Aylesford, to celebrate the charity’s centenary and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Kent (the Viscount De L’Isle) and the Chairman of Royal British Legion Industries (Mr Stephen Kingsman).

The Queen toured the new care facility, escorted by Mr Stephen Sherry (chief executive), met residents and their families, other residents, local schoolchildren reading, and further residents carrying out various activities, before meeting trustees and supporters and officially opening the new care facility.

Her Majesty this afternoon visited the Royal British Legion Industries Centenary Village at Victory House, Richard Corben Way, Aylesford, and viewed an apartment and plans for the future development of the Centenary Village before meeting friends and volunteers, trustees and staff.

The Queen placed a commemorative time capsule in the garden of the village.

Afterwards Her Majesty was entertained to Luncheon by the chairman.

The Queen held a Council at 6.00pm.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Jacob Rees-Mogg had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

By command of The Queen, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Rui Jorge Carneiro Mangueira at 22 Dorset Street, London W1, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Angola to the Court of St James’s.

Her Royal Highness this evening attended a Reception to mark the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Volunteer Centre Kensington and Chelsea at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7, and was received by Reverend Canon David Reindorp (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).
