The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh left St Pancras International, London, this morning for the State Visit to France.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received at the Station by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer), the Ambassador of the French Republic (His Excellency Mr Bernard Emié) and the Mayor of the London Borough of Camden (Councillor Jonathan Simpson).

Before departing by train, The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the Twentieth Anniversary of the opening of the Channel Tunnel.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon arrived at the Gare du Nord, Paris, and were received by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the French Republic (His Excellency Sir Peter Ricketts) and Mr Laurent Stéfanini (Head of Protocol at the Élysée Palace).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove to the Residence of Her Majesty’s Ambassador in Paris where Her Majesty held an Investiture this afternoon.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later drove to the Arc de Triomphe and were received by The President of the French Republic.

Her Majesty inspected the Guard of Honour and afterwards, with The President, laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and relit the Flame.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by The President of the French Republic, drove in a Ceremonial Procession to the Élysée Palace, with a Mounted Escort of the Republican Guard.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this evening attended The Queen’s Birthday Party Reception given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the French Republic and Lady Ricketts in the garden of the Residence.

The following are in attendance: the Rt Hon William Hague MP (Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs), the Lady Susan Hussey, the Rt Hon Sir Christopher Geidt, Ms Samantha Cohen, Surgeon Captain David Hett RN, Brigadier Archie Miller-Bakewell and Mr James Roscoe.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning departed Royal Air Force Northolt for France.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, Army Air Corps, and The Duchess of Cornwall, Royal Colonel, 4th Battalion The Rifles, this afternoon met veterans of the Glider Pilot Regiment at Pegasus Bridge, Normandy, and laid a wreath at the Glider Pilot Memorial.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later visited 70th Power Boat Squadron and viewed powerboats involved in the Normandy Landings.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, and The Duchess of Cornwall afterwards attended a Lunch for veterans given by The Parachute Regiment at Ranville.

The Prince of Wales, Colonel-in-Chief, on behalf of The Parachute Regiment, later presented a bust of Major Jack Watson MC to the Commune of Ranville at the Mairie.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, The Parachute Regiment, subsequently viewed a parachute drop by British, American, French and Canadian Armed Forces at Ranville.

The Prince of Wales, Colonel-in-Chief, The Parachute Regiment, later attended a Memorial Service to commemorate the actions of Airborne Forces and the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion at la Poterie du Mesnil de Bavent.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, The Parachute Regiment, this evening attended a Reception at Bréville-les-Monts.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, this afternoon met veterans and serving members of the Regiment and subsequently toured the Juno Beach Centre, Courseulles-sur-Mer.

Her Royal Highness, accompanied by Admiral Laurence, this afternoon visited HMS MEDUSA alongside North Camber Jetty, HM Naval Base, Portsmouth.

The Princess Royal, President, Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, later visited the South of England Show before attending the Annual General Meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth at the South of England Showground, Ardingly, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex (Mrs Susan Pyper).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Vine Trust, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended a Reception at Home House, 20 Portman Square, London W1, to mark the journey of Medical Vessel Jubilee Hope to Lake Victoria.

The Princess Royal, Honorary Member, the Jockey Club, accompanied by Admiral Laurence, later attended a Dinner at the Orangery, Kensington Palace.

The Duke of Kent, Grand Master, United Grand Lodge of England, this morning named a renovated berth donated by the Freemasons’ Grand Charity in the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary, Royal Hospital Chelsea, Royal Hospital Road, London SW3.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, travelled in State to the Palace of Westminster today to open the Session of Parliament.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove in a Carriage Procession, escorted by a Sovereign’s Escort of The Household Cavalry, under the command of Major Nicholas Stewart, The Life Guards, and were received at the Sovereign’s Entrance by the Earl Marshal and the Lord Great Chamberlain.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall drove in a Carriage Procession, escorted by a Travelling Escort of the Household Cavalry, under the command of Major Simon Lukas, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

Guards of Honour were mounted at Buckingham Palace by The Queen’s Guard found by 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, under the command of Major Andrew Seddon and at the Palace of Westminster by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, under the command of Major Timothy Badham.

A staircase party of The Household Cavalry was on duty at Victoria Tower, House of Lords, under the command of Captain Paul Chishick.

Royal Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major Mark Edward, and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Major Richard Jakeman.

The Imperial State Crown, the Cap of Maintenance and the Sword of State were conveyed previously to the House of Lords in a Carriage Procession, escorted by a Regalia Escort of The Household Cavalry.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms was on duty in the Prince’s Chamber and The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard.

The Queen’s Bargemaster and Watermen were on duty.

The Ladies and Gentlemen of the Household and the Pages of Honour to The Queen (Arthur Chatto, the Hon Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Aithrie and Hugo Bertie) were in attendance at the Palace of Westminster.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness returned to Buckingham Palace and were received by the Lord Chamberlain and the Vice-Chamberlain of the Household.

COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this morning drove to Horse Guards Parade to present new Standards to the Household Cavalry and was received by Major General Edward Smyth-Osbourne (Commander Household Cavalry, Designate), Field Marshal the Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank (Colonel, The Life Guards) and The Princess Royal (Colonel, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

Her Majesty, having been received with a Royal Salute, reviewed the Parade.

The Queen presented eight new Standards following their consecration.

Her Majesty was graciously pleased to address the Regiments and the Parade Commander (Colonel Stuart Cowen, Commander Household Cavalry) replied.

The Mounted Squadrons conducted a Walk and Trot Past and the Armoured Reconnaissance Squadrons conducted a Drive Past.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were present at a Garden Party given for the Household Cavalry at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

The Rt Hon William Hague MP (Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was received in audience by The Queen this evening.

The Duchess of Cornwall, President, the Royal Bath and West of England Society, this morning visited the Royal Bath and West Show, the Showground, Shepton Mallet, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset (Lady Gass).

Kensington Palace

Prince Henry of Wales this morning attended the presentation of new Standards by The Queen to the Household Cavalry on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Garden Party given for the Household Cavalry at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of York this afternoon received the Lord Young of Graffham (the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Small Businesses and Enterprise).

The Duke of York received Mr Philip Yea upon relinquishing his appointment as Senior Business Adviser to His Royal Highness.

The Duke of York later held a Meeting for the Royal International Diplomacy Course Team.

The Princess Royal, Colonel, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), this afternoon attended a Colonels Luncheon at the Goring Hotel, 15 Beeston Place, London SW1.

Her Royal Highness, Colonel, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), later attended a Garden Party given for the Household Cavalry at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Scottish Rugby Union, and Patron, London Scottish Football Club, this evening attended a Friends of Scottish Rugby Dinner at the Caledonian Club, 9 Halkin Street, London SW1.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester today carried out the following engagements in Cornwall.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited Royal Cornwall Museum, River Street, Truro, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Colonel Edward Bolitho).

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester later visited Porthmeor Studios, Back Road West, St. Ives.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon visited Tate St. Ives, Porthmeor Beach, St. Ives.

The Duchess of Gloucester this morning visited the Leach Pottery, Higher Stennack, St. Ives, and was received by Mr. James Williams (Deputy Lieutenant of Cornwall).

Her Royal Highness afterwards visited Kidz R Us at St. Ives Theatre, Lower Stennack, St. Ives.

The Duke of Kent this morning attended the presentation of new Standards by The Queen to the Household Cavalry on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra this afternoon opened the Royal Parks’ new Golf Course Clubhouse in Richmond Park, Norstead Place, London SW15, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust, this evening held a Reception at St. James’s Palace.

The Queen held a Council at 6.15 pm.

There were present: the Rt. Hon. Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Gregory Clark MP (Minister of State, Cabinet Office, Cities and Constitution), the Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP (Secretary of State for the Home Department) and the Rt. Hon. George Osborne MP (Chancellor of the Exchequer, H.M. Treasury).

The Rt. Hon. Esther McVey MP and the Rt. Hon. Nicola Morgan MP were sworn in as members of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

Mrs. Ceri King was in attendance as Deputy Clerk of the Council.

The Rt. Hon. Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester today visited Cornwall and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Colonel Edward Bolitho).

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon visited Penlee House Gallery and Museum, Morrab Road, Penzance, to mark the Four Hundredth Anniversary of the Charter of the Incorporation of Penzance.

The Duke of Gloucester later visited Penzance Promenade and unveiled a replica boundary stone at Wherrytown.

His Royal Highness afterwards visited the Camborne Pool Redruth Food Bank at Centenary Chapel, Wesley Street, Camborne.

The Duke of Gloucester subsequently visited Godolphin House, Godolphin Cross, Helston.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester later visited Porthleven Harbour.

The Duke of Gloucester, Royal Colonel, this evening visited 6th Battalion The Rifles at Moresk Drill Hall, Moresk Road, Truro.

The Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon visited Mullion Harbour, Mullion Cove, Mullion, and was received by Mr. James Williams (Deputy Lieutenant of Cornwall).

Her Royal Highness afterwards visited Trenance Chocolate Factory, Mullion.

The Duke of Kent this morning officially re-opened Ramsgate Tunnels, Marina Esplanade, Ramsgate, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Kent (the Viscount De L’Isle).

His Royal Highness later visited Royal Temple Yacht Club and met Maritime Studies students from the Royal Temple Yacht Club Academy, 6 Westcliff Mansions, Ramsgate.

The Duke of Kent this afternoon visited Pugin’s Church of St. Augustine, St. Augustine’s Road, Ramsgate.

His Royal Highness later visited Thanet Earth, Barrow Man Road, Birchington, Kent.
