Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon visited West Tanfield, Ripon, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire (the Lord Crathorne).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh left the Palace of Holyroodhouse this morning.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Forth Road Bridge to mark its Fiftieth Anniversary and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and Mr Barry Colford (Chief Engineer and Bridgemaster).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards arrived at HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH in Rosyth Dockyard and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Fife (Mrs Brian Dean), the First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff (Admiral Sir George Zambellas) and Mr Ian Booth (Programme Director, Aircraft Carrier Alliance).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness met Royal Naval Captains and construction staff before witnessing a fly-past by the Red Arrows of the Royal Air Force.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended a Service of Dedication before Her Majesty named HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH.

Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force.

The Prince of Wales this morning visited Plough Chapel, Lion Street, Brecon, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Powys (the Hon Mrs Legge-Bourke).

The Princess Royal, Patron, Restorative Justice Council, this morning attended a Reception to launch Kirklees as a Restorative Community Safety Partnership at the Town Hall, Wakefield Old Road, Dewsbury, and was received by Major Stanley Hardy (Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by Prince William, Earl of Strathearn and The Princess Royal, this morning attended a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral for the Installation of the Earl of Home and the Lord Smith of Kelvin as Knights of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses were received at St Giles’ Cathedral by the Chancellor of the Thistle (the Earl of Airlie) and the Dean of the Thistle and Minister of St Giles’ (the Very Reverend Gilleasbuig Macmillan).

Viscount Aithrie (Page of Honour to The Queen) was in attendance.

A Guard of Honour was mounted in Parliament Square West by The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, with the Colours of the Royal Company, under the command of Lieutenant, Sir Michael Strang-Steel, Bt, and accompanied by the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a Lunch Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for the Knights of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

The Very Reverend Gilleasbuig Macmillan was received by The Queen this afternoon upon relinquishing his appointment as Dean of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle and delivered up to Her Majesty his Badge of Office when The Queen invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Very Reverend Professor Iain Torrance was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Dean of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle when Her Majesty handed to him the Badge of Office.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later drove to Edinburgh Castle and were received by the General Officer Commanding Scotland and Governor of Edinburgh Castle (Major General Nicholas Eeles) and Major General Mark Strudwick (Chairman of Trustees, Scottish National War Memorial).

The Governor surrendered to Her Majesty the Keys of the Castle which The Queen returned to him.

Her Majesty then inspected the Guard of Honour found by The Highlanders, 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh subsequently moved to the Scottish National War Memorial and attended a Service of Commemoration during which His Royal Highness, formerly Colonel-in-Chief, laid up the Colours of The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons) and Her Majesty laid a wreath at the Shrine.

Afterwards The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh unveiled a Commemoration Stone in the Memorial Garden to mark the Centenary of the First World War.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, later held a Reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

By command of The Queen, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) received His Excellency Dr Carl Roberts at St James’s Palace this morning and bade farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as High Commissioner for Antigua and Barbuda in London.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness toured the Centre, viewing operations procedures and meeting volunteers and members of staff.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon visited the Emirates Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, 1000 London Road, Glasgow, and were received by the Chief Executive of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Mr David Grevemberg).

Her Majesty, escorted by Mr Kim Stanton (Venue Manager, Emirates Arena), and His Royal Highness, escorted by Mr Jonathan Shaw (General Manager), viewed the Scotland cycling team using the Velodrome, the Badminton Arena, and met members of staff and apprentices.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were subsequently entertained to Luncheon by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and were received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, and Flag Officer Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland (Rear Admiral Christopher Hockley).

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, was received with a Royal Salute and Her Majesty, escorted by the General Officer Commanding Scotland (Major General Nicholas Eeles), inspected the Guard of Honour found by The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Major Stephen Dallard which was mounted in the Forecourt.

Afterwards the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to Her Majesty the Keys of the City, which The Queen returned to him.

Subsequently Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received inside the Palace of Holyroodhouse by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning arrived at St Leonard’s Terrace, Chelsea, London SW3, and drove through Burton Court which was lined with Cadets, Guides and Scouts, before arriving at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received at the Royal Hospital by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer) and the Governor (General Sir Redmond Watt).

The Queen, escorted by the Governor, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by Major General Peter Currie (Lieutenant Governor), attended a Solemn Drumhead Service in Figure Court in remembrance of those who gave their lives in the Great War.

After the Service Her Majesty and His Royal Highness moved into the Chapel and met book writers and archivists before being presented with a book on the “History of the London Volunteer Reserve Forces 1908-1914”.

Prince Henry of Wales this morning visited the 11th Fire Brigade “George Garland” of Valparaiso, Chile.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Techo site in Valparaiso and met members of the community rebuilding after the recent fire.

The Earl of Wessex, Royal Honorary Colonel, The London Regiment, this morning attended the Solemn Drumhead Service at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London SW3.

The Princess Royal, having been received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Stirling and Falkirk (Mrs Marjory McLachlan), took the salute at the march past on National Armed Forces Day in Stirling and, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, afterwards attended the Drumhead Service.

His Excellency Sir Arthur Foulkes was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Governor-General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

Lady Foulkes was also received by The Queen.

Her Majesty, Sovereign Head, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, received Professor Anthony Mellows upon relinquishing his appointment as Lord Prior.

The Hon Alexander Downer was received in audience by The Queen upon his appointment as High Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Australia in London.

Mrs Downer was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen gave an Afternoon Party for the “Not Forgotten” Association in the garden of Buckingham Palace.
