The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning met experts from the television programme, “the Antiques Roadshow”, at Hillsborough Castle, County Down, and viewed artefacts displayed.

Her Majesty, Patron, and His Royal Highness, Life Member, later attended a Reception for the Royal British Legion at the Town Hall, the Diamond, Coleraine, given by Coleraine Borough Council to acknowledge the Legion’s contribution to the wellbeing of veterans and their families and to launch the Council’s programme of activities to commemorate the centenary of the start of Britain’s involvement in the First World War, and were received by the Mayor of Coleraine (Mr. Kieran Doherty).

Afterwards The Queen laid a wreath at the War Memorial.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness subsequently undertook a short walkabout in Coleraine.

The Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen at Buckingham Palace this evening.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness moved along the Governor’s Corridor, meeting representatives of the Northern Ireland Assembly, before meeting representatives from community organisations, local sporting organisations, schools, business leaders, faith leaders and local health professionals.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards visited the Hurst-MacQuitty Building, Titanic Quarter, Queens Road, Belfast, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast and Mr David Sterling (Permanent Secretary, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, accompanied by Mr David Benioff and Mr Dan Weiss (Executive Producers and Writers, Game of Thrones), toured the ‘A’ Stage, viewing weapons, costumes and properties and meeting the weapons master, property makers and costume designers, before viewing the “Game of Thrones’ “ throne and meeting producers, crew and actors.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon visited St George’s Market, 12-20 East Bridge Street, Belfast, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast and Mrs Suzanne Wylie (Chief Executive Designate, Belfast City Council).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, accompanied by the Chief Executive Designate and Mr John McGrillen (Director of Development, Belfast City Council), toured the market, viewing art and craft and food stalls and meeting stallholders. Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained to Luncheon at Belfast City Hall, Donegall Square North, Belfast, by the Lord Mayor of Belfast and the City Council.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness later attended an Afternoon Party in the garden of Hillsborough Castle and were received by the Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP (Secretary of State for Northern Ireland).

Mr Julian King (formerly Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Ireland) was received by The Queen this evening upon relinquishing his appointment as Director General of the Northern Ireland Office when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

Mr Samuel Fitzsimons was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order.

By command of The Queen, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Volodymyr Khandogiy at 60 Holland Park, London W11, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from Ukraine to the Court of St James’s.

The following Knights Companion were present: the Lord Carrington, the Duke of Wellington, Field Marshal the Lord Bramall, the Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover, the Lord Ashburton, Sir Timothy Colman, the Duke of Abercorn (Chancellor), Sir William Gladstone, Bt., Field Marshal the Lord Inge, Sir Antony Acland, the Duke of Westminster, the Lord Butler of Brockwell, the Lord Morris of Aberavon, the Rt. Hon. Sir John Major, the Lord Luce, Sir Thomas Dunne, the Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, the Lord Boyce and the Lord Stirrup.

The Officers of the Order were: the Bishop of Winchester (Prelate), the Dean of Windsor (Register), Mr. Thomas Woodcock (Garter), Lieutenant General David Leakey (Black Rod) and Mr. Patric Dickinson ( Secretary).

Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Matheson of Matheson, younger (Secretary, Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood), Mr. Hugo Bertie (Page of Honour) and Viscount Aithrie (Page of Honour) were in attendance.

Her Majesty invested the Baroness Manningham-Buller with the Insignia of a Lady Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and the Lord King of Lothbury with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later gave a Lunch Party.

The Installation Service was held in St. George’s Chapel this afternoon.

Detachments of Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and the Military Knights of Windsor were on duty in the Chapel.

The Queen was represented by the Lady Susan Hussey (Lady in Waiting) at the Memorial Service for Lady May which was held at the Temple Church, London EC4, this afternoon.
